Overview

It’s more than a decade since Barack Obama, yet the war between Democrats and Republicans rages on. In disgust if not hope, the country turns to the New American Progressive Party and elects Sally Macalester as President. But the Republicans still hold solid majorities in both houses of Congress, and the Tea Party right wing figures it can trump the system by impeaching Sally and her Vice President and putting the Republican Speaker of the House in charge of the country.

Impeachment goes nowhere until terrorists disguised in Santa suits blow up eight big shopping malls a week before Christmas. All the evidence seems to say Iran did it with explosives smuggled from Yemen; but that story doesn’t ring true to Sally. When she refuses immediate nuclear retaliation, the Republicans raise anew their cry to dump her. Even worse, the holdover CIA Director is a Tea Party type who’s helping them every way he can.

Sally’s only hope to stay in office and save the world from an atomic holocaust is her one time college sweetheart, Walleye Stromdahl, the Commandant of the Marines. His quest to learn the truth takes him to the remotest parts of Yemen and ends back in the U.S. with the discovery of a conspiracy far deeper than anyone ever suspected.

First Rate Thriller With a Political Twist

A whodunnit that delves into the toxic politics that now plague the country. It strikes just the right balance between suspenseful action and philosophical introspection, with a good dose of wry humor. A must read in the current political season.
