The Santinis
Four brothers who believe in service before self and the women who will bring them to their knees.

LEONARDO-BOOK ONE
US ARMY E-6
Joint Base San Antonio, TX
Erotic Romance
Novella

Leo Santini is a man who always has a plan. It is the way to live a well-ordered life. He never planned on dealing with the hardheaded physical therapist who is taking care of his friend. He definitely never planned on being so totally infatuated with her.

Maryanne Johnson doesn’t have time for a romance—especially with a military man. Sure, Leo is drop dead sexy, but more than one man in a uniform had hurt her before. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to resist him or his kisses. It doesn’t help that the man is as sweet as he is sexy. Falling for him is easy, but she does her best to keep herself from admitting it to him.

Leo knows she wants to keep things simple but when a Santini is in love nothing will stop him from achieving his goal—even the hardheaded woman he loves.

Included in the book are personal memories Melissa has from their time spent in San Antonio and a sneak peek of Vicente.

Editorial Reviews

Ladybug Story Time Blog - Kristina (review, blogger)
Leo isn't the stereotypical Italian male portrayed on TV or in books, and I liked that about him. He was sweet and kind, but also stubborn and hard-headed. He loved his family and he loved his country. He was passionate about what he believes in, but he also knew how to have fun. I loved how much he cared about Maryanne...I can not wait to meet Leo's other brothers, Marco and Gianni. We got to meet Vincente in this novella and I am excited to see him again. He seems like he would be a lot of fun

I loved the writing style, the author's voice along with the great cast of characters. Leonardo was a great read & I enjoyed every minute of it. I definitely cannot wait for the rest of the series. I want more of these delicious Santini men!
Manic Readers - Sabine (reviewer)
The interaction between Leo and Maryanne is sweet and hot and sexy at the same time. Leo is like water dripping on a stone and he worms his way into Maryanne’s heart before she even realizes what is happening. She loves that he sees her for who she is and also that he takes the time to really get to know her. Add to this the fact that the sex is super hot with beautiful sensual fireworks explosions...

Meet the Author

From an early age, Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book.
Since the publication of her first book in 2004, Melissa has had close to fifty romances published. She writes in genres from historical suspense to modern day erotic romance to futuristics and paranormals. Included in those releases is the bestselling Harmless series. In 2011, Melissa branched out into self-publishing with A Little Harmless Submission and the popular military spinoff, Infatuation: A Little Harmless Military Romance. Along the way she has garnered an epic nomination, a multitude of reviewer’s recommended reads, over five Capa nods from TRS, over twelve nominations for AAD Bookies and regularly tops the bestseller lists on Amazon, All Romance Ebooks and Barnes & Noble.
Since she spent her childhood as a military brat, Melissa swore never to marry military. But, as we all know, Fate has her way with mortals. She is married to an AF major and is raising her own brats, both human and canine. She spends her days giving in to her addiction to Twitter, counting down the days until her hubby retires, and cursing the military for always sticking them in a location that is filled with bugs big enough to eat her children.

Leonardo is the first brother we meet in Melissa Schroeder's new

Leonardo is the first brother we meet in Melissa Schroeder's new military romance series, the Santini's. In this new series, she is introducing us to four brothers, the Santinis, that serve our county. Well, if Leo's story is any indication to this series, sign me up. I am hooked.

Leo is a medic in the army, stationed in San Antonio, Texas. While visiting a friend in the hospital, he meets Maryanne. Instant chemistry. I loved Leo's personality, this is the kind of guy every girl dreams of meeting. Maryanne is just spunky and holds her own to Leo. Her strong female characteristics make her funny and loveable, I found myself cheering this relationship on.

The story is a novella, and yes, I wanted more to this story but I still fell in love with Leo and Maryanne. They had instant chemistry on the page and their story was perfect!

    Smoking hot military romance.
Leo Santini is an Army medic newly assigned to teach in San Antonio.  While visiting a friend in the base hospital he meets physical therapist Maryanne Johnson.  He is captivated from the first time he meets her.  She is a tough as nails military brat with a heart of gold.  She has been burned by military guys before will Leo break her heart too?
When Leo finds himself in love with Maryanne he will do anything it takes to make her fall in love with him.  Even if it means he has to listen to his mother.
This is the first of the Santini brothers series by Melissa Schroeder.  Each brother is in the military but a different branch.  Leo is in the Army.  I must admit being partial to the Navy but that’s okay because Marco is coming out next.  You can’t miss with a Melissa Schroeder military man.

    I have read worse :-/

Everything happens too fast. Not a lot of plot or storyline. Even the sexy parts are just "ok". Had potential to be better, wish she would have spent more time on it. Was hoping for a decent series but the first book of this one mostly left me dissapointed.

Great read! Definitely worth checking out!

The Santinis are 4 brothers, each a different member of the military branches. The first book is Leonardo (Leo) & Maryanne Johnson [MJ). The Santinis are brothers who love each other but also like to tease & pester each other. Leo & MJ share one of the best first kisses I've seen written in a very long time. The .99 is worth it just for that!;) The books are well written & move fast. The love & camroderie in the family is fun to see. This story is novella length. This book 1 of a 4 book series. If you want a quick fun read that will have you laughing & sighing, check out The Santinis.

The Santinis is a new 4 novella series about 4 brothers who are

The Santinis is a new 4 novella series about 4 brothers who are all in different branches of the military. Each of them are single and looking for love. Well, they might not be looking for it, but eventually it's going to find each and every one of them.

Leonardo's story is first. He's an Army Medic and doesn't take crap from anyone. When he meets Maryanne Johnson he's finally met his match. At first he's a little taken aback from her attitude but soon something stirs within him and the attraction is strong.

Maryanne has grown up in a military family. She's got several brothers who are all in the military. She knows a lot about the life. She's dated several men in the military and hasn't always had the best of luck. She wants nothing to do with Leonardo at first. Leo's caught off guard with his feelings and Maryanne, well, she tries hard to not develop feelings for him.

I really liked the chemistry these two shared. The sexual scenes are pretty much mainstream which is unusual for Ms. Schroeder. I've read several other books by her and they are all really hot, but since this is a novella I guess it's to be expected that the sexual scenes would be toned down and shorter in length. This fact doesn't in any way take away from the story.

Although it's a short read I really liked this one. I'm looking forward to reading the next novella in this series. Marco's up next. I can't wait to get to know him.

New series or just more of the same??

This is the first of a "new series" of stories by Ms. Schroeder, hoever it really reads a lot like her other series such as The Harmless stories, all that is missing is the BDSM and menages. Don't get me wrong it was a good story just didn't feel "fresh". Will read the other Santini's stories but was slightly disappointed.

This is the first book I have read by Melissa Schroeder and it definitely won't be the last! Leonardo, is the first book in a series of novellas about love and life in the military by Melissa Schroeder. The story is well written, hot and romantic.

The story begins with Leonardo Santini meeting Maryanne Johnson when visiting his army buddy in the military hospital. Leonardo is an army medic and Maryanne works for the hospital as a PT.
Both Maryanne and Leonardo are children of the military and devoted to their country. Attraction between the two is immediate and a relationship is imminent.

The novella tells their story of love. It is emotional and hot. If you are looking for a quick, spicy romantic read, this book is for you!

A sizzling read full of drama, humor and hot military men.

Army medic Leonardo Santini is captivated by his friend's physical therapist. Unfortunately for him, she has no designs on getting romantically involved with a military man. He's not ready to throw in the towel though. She's a spitfire, and he wants her. Getting her to go out on a few dates with him are challenging enough, but when feelings erupt, will he be able to hold on? Will she let herself be held on to?

Maryanne "the Battleaxe of BAMC" Johnson is already up to her ears in military men. Her father and four brothers are all Marines and she works in a military hospital. Getting attached to one would just bring heartbreak. So what if her body responds automatically whenever she catches a glimpse of him. She will not cave. But that's the thing about hard heads. Sometimes they go soft.

Leonardo was a fast paced read, packed with a lot of humor and a heroine that was quite a handful. On the outside both of them seemed to put up a tough exterior, but it was their few vulnerable moments that made them so likeable. Luke more so than Maryanne. The best part about this story for me was the familiarity I felt while reading it because I know all the places they visited. The chemistry was great, the love scenes were sizzling, the drama was both funny and sad, and Mama Santini rocks! I can't wait to read about the next Santini brother.

    Favorite Moment:

"Well, those guys are wimps. I'm made of tougher stuff than that. I'm a Santini."

    [...]

Everything in him said to take her then, lay her down on his bed and show her how much he loved her. But his mother had other plans.

"You're a Santini who's about to get your ears boxed if you don't open that door in the next ten seconds."

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

    4.5 STARS!!

I love Melissa Schroeder and was interested to see her start a new series. Leonardo is the first novella in a series surrounding the Santini brothers. I loved how this book was centralized around family. Both the characters had a big family and deep roots and we got to not only see connection that but also meet their siblings. It added depth to both Maryanne and Leonardo. Maryanne was a fun character as she was full of spit and vinegar yet was hugely passionate and had a sweet gooey center when it came to Leo. And Leo... ohhh Leo. I'm not sure he could be anymore perfect. He was almost too perfect actually. Sweet, loyal, romantic and sexy as sin military man. *sigh* I think that the couple were a perfect balance for each other. As always Ms. Schroeder's love scenes were perfect and the sarcasm and humor were brilliant. The little nuggets of information the author gave us in regards to one of the other Santini brother's left me wanting to know more. I am anxiously awaiting the next in this series.

I'm on a military romance kick right now and I absolutely loved this book!!! I have been (not so) patiently waiting for this book since Mel announced the series on her Facebook page. Leo was instantly loveable and quite irresistible. He is strong, in the military, stubborn, sexy, and funny. Maryanne is just as stubborn and is extra determined not to fall for Leo. Leo is persistent enough to continue to find ways to show Maryanne to give a relationship with him a chance. Leonardo was funny and full of sweet moments between Maryanne and Leo. I can't wait to meet the rest of the brothers and see what is in store for this group of military brothers. Fortunately we won't have to wait long because Mel plans to release them very close to one another!
