The Scarlet Letter book review The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne begins in the Puritan town of Boston, June 1642. A woman named Hester Prynne has committed adultery and is forced to wear a scarlet A on her dress. Also as a punishment she must stand on a scaffold for three hours for public humiliation. When people ask her to say who the father of her baby is, she refuses to tell. Roger, her long lost husband, shows up at her punishment and finds out that his wife committed adultery. Roger is angered by his discovery and vows to find the man she had her child with. In Hester’s prison her husband shows up and demands to know who the father is, but hester refuses to tell. Hester’s daughter Pearl grows up and becomes a very unruly child, so the government is deciding whether or not to take her child away. Hester asks Reverend Dimmesdale to help her convince the governor that she can take care of her child. Reverend Dimmesdale helps Hester but then falls very ill. Hester's husband who is pretending to be a physician thinks that Dimmesdale is sick because he feels so guilty. Roger thinks that Dimmesdale is the father of Hester's child. A week later Hester meets Dimmesdale in the forest and has a plan to escape to England together so they can live as a family. Dimmesdale agrees but he is scared and when its time to leave he knows he is going to die so he chickens out. Hester finds out that her husband Roger also planned to leave on the same ship. A few days later Reverend Dimmesdale gave his most inspiring sermons but afterwards he falls, since he is going to die soon he climbs the scaffold and admits his crimes then dies in Hester’s arms. Roger loses his will for revenge and dies too. Since he left Pearl allot of money they went back to England and married her off. Then Hester returns to Boston and continues to wear the scarlet A on her clothes. when she dies she is buried next to Dimmesdale. I think the message was that sometimes you have to make sacrifices to be with the ones you love and that revenge is bad. I disliked how it wasn't a very detailed book, but I loved the story. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes gossip, scandal and love stories. This book deserves 5 stars.

Fine. Don't believe me. Cyrus, you know nothing. No matter what you say, you will always speak out of your ass. Because all that comes out is shlt. And it's thirteen, bltch. Get your facts straight. Twelve turning thirteen in three and a half weeks. Lets see if i will live to see it. Lets see if you will, as well. Don't care about me. I speak the truth. Every word. Every letter. You are all immature enough to go against the only person that speaks any sense. Are youmature enough to put the nook away, Leave it on the shelf, Let it die? Becaue i am.

*a girl, about thirteen years of age, slinked into the woods. She was small, standing at only five feet, two inches. Her build was stocky, yet, keep in mind, she was small. She continued to walk through the forest, no longer visible, but one could hear her boots crunching on the half-melted snow. As she walked many thoughts ran across her mind; thoughts on what was about to happened to her, and about that certain someone she seemed to never stop thinking about. She came back into view after passing a large rock. Her clothes were nothing impressive; simply the same old leather jacket she always wore, and torn blue jeans tucked neatly into mid-calf lace-up leather boots. Her long brown hair was in a braid, her sidebangs brushed to the side of her face. Her facial appearence was striking to some, horrific to others. Her jawline was cut in a jagged, yet feminine angle; her cheek bones were quite prominent, set high; she had dark brown eyes and long lashes. Her lips were full, a dark pink in color. On her forehead, interrupting the pale, smooth skin, was a scar that ran across her forehead, rounded behind her right eye and seemingly traced her jawline on the right side. As quick as she had appeared, she disappeared behind a dense thicket of brush. She came upon a clearing, in which she stopped, met by a large fog. She spoke to the fog in a soothing voice.* Donder... *the fog took the form of a fierce dragon, a dark evergreen color with blood-red eyes. She whispered to it and immeditly the fog dragon spun into a funnel and penetrated her chest, vanishing into her small body. Her hands clenched into fists and her scar turned a light red. Suddenly, she collasped and her eyes began to flutter shut. The fog dragon would become the tyrant of her mind if she was not killed by the works of a staff. The staff of her certain someone.*
