The novel while written in English, it is difficult for high school and often college students to understand. This is a helpful tool for AP students struggling to pay attention to the details. Better than an abridged version of the text because both the original text and the modernized text are included. Very helpful when having to keep an annotation journal and when creating a dialectical journal as I had to do for AP Lang as a junior. It is better to buy this book than to read off  of sparknotes website for the sheer highlighting and active reader experience.

I teach ELLs and the students have used No Fear Shakespeare in the past. Since they were familiar with the format I ordered these instead of an abridged version of the novel. They enjoyed the novel and all said that the parallel format helped them follow along in class, but later they could go back and reread to compare to the modern version. Highly recommended for any struggling reader.
