NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY RT BOOK REVIEWS

In Stefanie Sloane’s irresistible Regency romance series of spy games and seductive passion, a rogue discovers that his desire for the wrong woman is so very right.

A notorious scoundrel, the right Honorable Nicholas Bourne has spent years in the East Indies amassing a fortune through questionable means. Still, his loyalty to his older brother, Langdon, and his childhood friends remains true and trusted. But when Lady Sophia Southwell, the woman promised to Nicholas’s brother, seeks his help on a dangerous mission, he is troubled—and torn. Unable to dissuade her from her quest to find a killer, he vows to keep her safe. This makes his mission the hardest test of his wits, honor, and skill. For Sophia is the secret love of his life.

For years, Sophia has planned her daring act of revenge against her mother’s killer. She has painstakingly prepared herself by studying the criminal mind. Now she knows that the moment is right and that Nicholas is the man to help her. But she doesn’t count on the reckless temptation of his rugged sensuality or the captivating intensity in his deep eyes. When desire and emotion intoxicate her as they venture together into the darkest corners of London’s underbelly, Sophia must contend with a yearning even more powerful than the quest for vengeance: the call of love.

“Stefanie Sloane’s books will leave you breathless.”—Julia Quinn

Meet the Author

A native Northwesterner with the pale skin to prove it, Stefanie Sloane credits her parents’ eclectic reading habits—not to mention their decision to live in the middle of nowhere—for her love of books. A childhood spent lost in the pages of countless novels led Sloane to college, where she majored in English. No one was more surprised than Sloane when she actually put her degree to use and landed a job in Amazon.com’s editorial department. She spent more than five years reading for a living before retiring to concentrate on her own stories. Stefanie Sloane lives with her family in Seattle.

As someone who somehow missed the rest of the books in this series, (shame on me I know!) I admit to having a bit of an issue at first picking it up. Its like trying to read the Harry Potter series out of order, all the characters know each other and are familiar and you’re the outsider who stumbled in asking around because you have no clue what a muggle is. However let this not dissuade you first timers from reading this series out of order. All in all I found the book a wonderful display of regency era romance. And the author somehow being psychic and knowing that sometimes a reader just can’t get to all the good books fast enough, gives you a wonderful taste of each of the previous characters as well as future characters. On the character themselves, I was utterly charmed. This was a book (and I’m assuming the series to) where a lot of thought went into who the characters were. Nicholas (our bad boy ;) ) is not the typical handsome regency hero who does right all his life. In fact he is someone we can relate to in modern days (for those 5 guys who read regency romances..ok 6 ). And Sophia is a character who reminds you of the little sister you shake your head at for not realizing that the boy she’s been friends with forever is …[Spoiler alert] actually the love of her life. Two thumbs up to Stephanie and I’ve already added this series to the rest of my twenty billion must reads!

Have not read this author before. Took a chance and I'm glad I did. Good plot, interesting characters - especially the men.

Best book of the series!! The characters are engaging, the romance troubled. Great read.
