I've read several Emily Hendrickson books, and this one seems a lot less polished than the others. The story is amusing, but seems more like a gothic spoof than anything. The characters, while likeable, are two-dimensional and not well-developed. I'm glad this wasn't the first of hers I read, i wouldn't have read any others.
