In this guide, you’ll learn 150 life-or-death lessons that Jamie Lee, Neve, and Jennifer Love learned on screen--without the pain of dismemberment. You owe it to yourself to master the scream queen’s rules of survival, including:

  • Be wary of days that begin "much like any other" (it’s all downhill from there)
  • Keep that playlist light (no one ever got axed while cuttin’ Footloose)
  • Reconsider that roadtrip (or else end up at the mercy of a creepy tow truck driver)
  • Keep away from small-town law enforcement (the rent-a-cop always dies)

Featuring little-known trivia and favorite moments from dozens of the most well-known and scariest movies of all time, this is one survival guide horror fans are sure to die without.

Meet the Author

Meredith O’Hayre was destined to be a fan of creepy movies--she grew up in the small New England town where The Witches of Eastwick was filmed. She has survived babysitting in a cemetery, taking young children through a corn maze, and trespassing on the grounds of an abandoned insane asylum.

An Excellent Supplement to the Zombie Survival Guide

I remember when my brother picked up the Zombie Survival Guide a few years ago we were all quite eager to brush up on our skills. The Scream Queens horror genre guide is no different, and equally necessary literature. Protect yourselves, people!

The practical guide is enriched by the addition of some interesting facts. Did you know the Amityville Horror film is based on true events? And, as a Maine native, I appreciate the author's firm warnings against vacations there. Don't be fooled by our "Vacationland" slogan... there is a reason Stephen King hides out there. ; ) There is also a list of highly suggested flicks in the back of the book. The author seems well-informed, I think I'll take her advice and add a few to my Netflix queue.

Now we just need a survival guide for vampires. Sorry, Edward... not me, not now.
