The book is easily the greatest screenplay writing book that I have read. Being a student studying this art to become a professional, I found that this book is very helpful and inspiring. Not only does it give you theories, exercises, and other great things, but it also prepares you for the real world of the industry. This book has helped meput a lot, and I honestly feel that being a high school student and reading this it will give me a great head start.

I loved this book. I've read half-a-dozen screenwriting 'how to' books. Most are like textbooks: big, threatening tomes that made me feel like I was in an Accounting class. THE SCREENWRITER WITHIN is actually fun to read. Gilles makes you laugh, think about things you thought you forgot, motivates you into creating three dimensional characters and then guides you through the process of structuring a screenplay. I've written 4 screenplays and all of them petered out in the 3rd Act. After reading this book I know what I did wrong. THE SCREENWRITER WITHIN delivers

The Screenwriter Within is the only book on screenwriting I've read that actually made me laugh while giving dead-on insights into the process of writing a full-length script. Gilles's approach is lighthearted yet firm. He never talks down to the reader. Unlike other books that make writing a screenplay seem like a daunting trial by fire, Gilles made me feel I could actually do it. His insights into storytelling are also enlightening. I loved this book!
