Overview

Part Two Of Two Parts

This volume carries the history up to the middle of January 1942, and is even more absorbing than its predecessors. The beginning is an admirable survey of the way the war looked after the failure of the Germans in their first all-out attack on Britain.

Included are the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the subsequent great meetings between Roosevelt and Churchill. The sinking of the Bismarck is told magnificently, as might be expected from a man who was at one time the First Lord of the Admiralty.
