Overview

A beautiful story of wartime survival, this is the romantic love story about a young Austrian Jewish girl who survives WWII by hiding from the Nazis whilst living amongst them in Hitler's Munich.

There was a knock on the door of the apartment. She looked through the spyglass to see two Gestapo officers standing there. What did they want, had they come for her? Had she been discovered after all this time? Was she about to lose everything, including her life?

Rebecca was a beautiful teenager with many friends who loved her. However, for her, life as a young Austrian woman would change dramatically when her country was invaded by the Nazis, resulting in Austria being annexed on the 11th of March 1938.

The problem for Rebecca was that even though her family were not at all religious, her papers contained the word "Juden." This word alone was enough to make her life impossible, for in the eyes of the Nazis, as a Jew she was the enemy.

Her friends rallied, all wanting to help. Her best friend was an artist and he made fake papers for her by copying those of another friend, but the two girls could not live in the same city, Vienna.

For this reason, Rebecca moves to live with her friend's relations, in of all places, Munich, the birth place of the Nazis. Here she will spend the entire war years hiding from the Nazis by living amongst them whilst working and socialising with them – all the time hiding in plain sight.

About the Author

I was born in the beautiful Somerset City of Bath, England, and worked for "South West Gas" from the 18th of September 1972 until the Christmas Eve of 1977, before landing a job as a professional Disc-Jockey and working for the "American Forces Network" in Germany.

Here I worked with such groups as "The Supremes," "Rose Royce," "The Chi-lites," "The Impressions" and a very young band named "The Commodores," before they became famous. I also worked with fellow American radio DJ's - Casey Cason, Dan Maroso and Benny Brown.

Because of my stint working in Germany I caught the travelling bug, and during November 1992 I moved to the crazy resort of Magalluf, on the Sunshine Island of Mallorca, Spain, where I spent the next sixteen wonderful years before returning to the UK in the October of 2008.

My life changed when I visited the notorious Death Camp of Auschwitz on March 18th 2014 during a trip to Krakow, Poland. Whilst there, I met a fascinating elderly lady who told me a story about her aunty and her harrowing life in the camp between the years 1943 and 1945. This was a beautiful love story.

I thought about her aunty's life for a couple of years and eventually decided to write a story based on it, beginning the process in 2019. The book was finished and ready for publication one year later, in August 2020. The title of the book was “Return to Auschwitz,” and this became my first World War Two inspired “Romantic Love Story.”

One year later, my second book in the war inspired series was released, with “The Secret Jew of Munich” being born and published in September 2021, followed by the third book in the series, "Yvette of the S.O.E" being published on the 8th of March 2023.

Since then, all three books have become very good sellers, for which, I say “Thank you.”
