This book is not my usual genre. I read it for a book club and I'm so glad I did. An absolutely amazing, heart-wrench, uplifting, well-written story about two families and the suffering they endured through some very dark times in history. And one incredible violin that brought both comfort and pain and in the end brings the two families together. Whatever genre you prefer, I strongly recommend you step out of your comfort zone and read this book!

A book of triumph over tragedy in the midst of unthinkable situations. The tie-in between present day and WWII gives the story a nice measure of depth and highlights the role of family across generations. I highly recommend for anyone with a love for classical music or historical fiction- a very nice blend of both.

This was an excellent book. If you have a passion for classical music, history, and/or just books this will be a great read for you just as it was for me.

The music nerd in me really enjoyed this book, but there's so much more to this story beyond music. Fascinating tale of family histories that become interwoven across countries and cultures due to things that happened during WWII and beyond. Big thumbs up to the author.

I loved this book. It was a great combination of fiction, history, and classical music. Loved to read about the history of such valuable instruments.
