Overview

National bestseller ReShonda Tate Billingsley spins an irresistible story of romance and faith that will touch every reader's heart.

Her novel Say Amen, Again won the NAACP Image Award, proving that ReShonda Tate Billingsley’s storytelling “scores a direct hit” (Publishers Weekly), delighting and inspiring with powerful, soul-searching situations and unforgettable characters.

How far will you go to save someone you love and trust when they’ve kept a dangerous secret for years? That’s the question facing Lance Kingston, a successful Houston magazine executive whose recent marriage to beautiful, high-powered attorney Tia Jiles seemed to promise a bright future for both of them. But under the surface, a fierce and frightening storm was brewing. That’s because Tia never revealed to Lance what she and her family have known since Tia was seventeen—she has an illness that takes over her mind, transforming her into a raging, violent woman hell-bent on destruction. Bipolar disorder. Schizophrenia. Or crazy, as Lance’s grandmother continually reminds him. “Crazy leaves clues,” she told him point-blank, and perhaps Lance should have listened. Tia’s mother tries to pray the problem away . . . and Tia’s doctors can’t help her if she won’t do what they advise. Now there’s more than their marriage and Tia’s survival at stake: Tia is pregnant, and Lance will stop at nothing to keep his troubled wife and unborn daughter safe. But at what price?

I loved this book!!! Although this book deals with a very real issue that is heart wrenching, the author does a great job of keeping the readers entertained and engaged! I could not put this book down. I laughed and cried. I saw people I knew in this story and grew to understand them a bit more...sad but true. I am glad the author had the heart to tell the story and the strength to let it end the way it did. MitziD

I love this book. I think this book should be read by people who doesn't understand how a mental illness can destroy a family. I'm not speaking from experience.

LOVE TO THE LIMIT!!!!! WOW!!!! MS BILLINGSLEY GETS TWO THUMBS AND TWO TOES UP FOR A WONDERFUL AND WELL WRITTEN NOVEL. I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THIS BOOK. I HAVE READ TWO BOOKS DEALING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS, AND I MUST SAY THAT THIS ONE WAS THE BETTER OF THE TWO. MY HAT GOES OFF TO LANCE. WHAT A STRONG, AND SUPPORTIVE HUSBAND. WHERE CAN I FIND A MAN LIKE LANCE AT???? EVEN WITH HIS FAMILY TELLING HIM TO WALK AWAY, LANCE WAS WILLING TO ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES AND STICK IT OUT. THAT IS REAL LOVE AT WORK. SHAME ON TIA AND HER FAMILY FOR NOT WANTING TO TELL LANCE ABOUT TIA'S CONDITION. I DO FEEL THAT THAT WAS WRONG, DIRTY, AND VERY LOW DOWN. MARRIAGE IS VERY SERIOUS AND NOTHING TO PLAY WITH. SOMETHING AS GREAT AS MENTAL ILLNESS SHOULD BE DISCUSSED BEFORE SAYING I DO. THIS BOOK WAS AND EYE OPENER. AND A GREAT READ. ENJOY........

There hasn't been a book that has dealt so decently and respectfully with the sensitive subject of mental illness since '72 Hour Hold' by Bebe Moore Campbell. Like mentioned in the book, it's acceptable for when a person goes to their doctor seeking medical assistance for pain in their body, cancer or any other illnesses but unfortunately there is still a stigma associated with mental illness. With all the returning military people from the multiple deployments and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) America really needs to improve mental health programs because a lot of these military people will return to the civilian populations and than what... wait until they go into an office building suffer a trigger and shoot up the place?!?! It'll be too late than and especially when something could have been done prior to such a dreadful and preventable incident. Congratulations ReShonda Tate Billingsley for handling such a sensitive subject such as bipolar disorder with such dignity and still with a sense of humor. Now Aunt Gladys, Uncle Bud and Cousin Denise doesn't has to remain the family secret and whispered about at family gatherings.

A combination Mrs. Billingsley's trademark of humor, drama, and love proves that there is hope after the storm. Just have the faith. I found myself laughing and crying as I flipped the pages of this novel. A great book about a 'untouched' subject. This is a must read for everybody!

Wasn't one of my favorite reads. I kept picturing the girls family as some sort of backwoods non-educated family for some reason. It does deal with a real life disease. I think I kept reading to see what was gonna happen but not because I couldn't wait to keep reading.

A very interesting story. This was my first experience with this author and this type of story. I wasn't sure I would like it, but became intrigued with it as I continued to read. I discovered quite a lot about mental illness and sympathized with all the characters in the story. LA-TXN

This book was a page turner. It's sad that a person wouldn't deny themselves medical treatment for chest pains but would deny themselves treatment for mental illness. This was truly an eye opener.

This book really highlights how important it is to be transparent when considering marriage. I saw some characteristics that I have encountered before and now know how important communication really is in any relationship.
