Overview

When the angelic Duke of Tempest, Sebastian St. James, appeared unexpectedly at his boyhood friend's home, he had but one goal: Find a suitable wife as soon as possible. However, his impeccable reputation made him a prime target for ambitious mothers of debutante daughters. He needed a plan.

Help came in the form of an unlikely alliance with Miss Emma Gates, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy viscount, who has deemed herself on the shelf, and only wants to marry in order to appease her parents. Together they could sort through the mire of would-be mates to find their perfect matches. That is, if they could keep their hands off each other long enough to pursue likely candidates.

When a man from Emma's past makes a play for her hand, the truth about her life threatens to destroy Sebastian's reputation, a reputation he has carefully guarded since his youth. In the end, the Angel Duke has to make a choice that will end up changing his reputation forever.

    I loved it!

What can I say? Mrs. Rachel really knows how to keep her readers enthralled! I cant wait for book three. I love how she plots the story, how entertaining her characters are and she always has one character that you love to hate. From beginning to end, I smiled through this story. A girl sneeking out to dance like a gypsy, causing her family scandal. Years later, ready to marry, she goes to stay with Sara and Nicholas (characters from the first story) and there she meets her perfect match! Sebastian, ready to settle, is quite taken with Emma, first as a friend, later deepening into love. These two make a wonderful couple, especially seeing how they like to have fun! From throwing grapes at people, kissing and getting busted at balls and causing a stir or two! The characters are enchanting and will keep you draw to the last page! Id recommend this story to anyone who adores fun loving people, a plot that doesnt stop and a love so sweet! Pick up a copy! Its just as good as the first story, The Ugly Duckling Debutante. Havent read it? What are you waiting for? Your missing out! ;)

Lacking in depth, even for a romance

I can't recommend this at all. I only read the free sample, but if that isn't sufficient indicator of the quality of the whole book then what is the point of offering the sample? Aside from the frequent misspellings and formatting errors that mar the presentation of the Nook version, this is so hopelessly written that I can't make sense of it. Supposedly a novel, it's so devoid of any detail that it reads like an overlong and directionless short story. When is this set? Is it fantasy? Historical fiction? Contemporary romance? There is not a single statement to indicate when this is taking place, and the rather ludicrous noble titles would seem to imply a fantasy setting. Entire chapters trudge by presented in the vaguest possible terms, featuring named but interchangeable entities bantering at each other without saying anything. Who are they? Where are they? When are they? Is it day? Night? Winter? Summer? Are they clothed? Naked? Indoors? Outdoors? The author makes no effort to define the characters, their circumstances or surroundings, and no effort to draw us into the story or make us care about any of it. Aside from this, the monolithic dialog consists largely of tortured passages of questionable grammar, tired cliches, and irrelevant utterances that don't seem to fit the supposed lofty origins (and implied intelligence) of the speakers. I've read other free samples that immediately made me want to buy the whole book. This one definitely did not. If the author can construct a plot (and I have no evidence to support the existence of such an ability) she might be better off sticking to short fiction, where the detail normally expected of a novel is not required.

    Amazing Sequel! Worth the Wait!

This book was impossible for me to put down. The characters drew me in immediately. The story line moved at a good pace, keeping me involved from start to finish.

    Poorly constructed.

I will not bother repeating what someone else said below in great detail. The plot and characters have no dimension. The characters especially act opposite to how they are initially presented. The language is not correct for the implied time period. 53 pages in and I can't stand it anymore. Awful.

    Not very good - lacks..

I just finished this book. It has a lot of promise. Very handsome man, outspoken girl, but the writing didn't pull me in. No depth to romantic scenes. I like more details and this was very bland as far as romance books go. I wouldn't recommend.

    poorly written

This authors writing style was difficult to get past. She jumped around and I often had to re-read sentences to try to figure out what she was talking about. Could have been a good book, but I could not get past the writing style. I would not recommend to a friend or read another story by RVD.

    Disappointing

The characters were inconsistent and boring. What is more, the plot does not work because it is illogical. Would not pay much for this book.

    Great read

What a perfect way to spend a night when you have insomnia. A delightful story that had me smiling often, just enough angst, and a bit of mystery. I have a new author to add to my must have list.
