I was anticipating a deep theological treatise..... this is actually an almost light and breezy presentation of a challenging topic. The author is able present an ancient teaching -from Dante's Purgatario to today, in a way that is understandable to the average reader. Well researched, well thought out, well presented. And a good list of related books if you desire to dig deeper - including the original treatises. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in getting an overview of "The Seven Deadly Sins" (actually more accurately described as seven root causes of sin.)
