Overview

Today, the right to own a gun is under assault like never before. Every time a firearm is used in a high-profile crime, calls for stricter gun regulation—even outright prohibition—are pounded into us by a press that has taken sides. In fact, when it comes to guns, journalists have clearly made up their minds. According to a recent study, television news stories calling for stricter gun laws outnumbered newscasts opposing such laws by a ratio of ten to one. In other words, we are hearing only one side of the story.

This is the other side.

"A blockbuster book every freedom-loving American should read." — Christopher Ruddy, editor, NewsMax.com

In The Seven Myths of Gun Control, award-winning journalist and bestselling author Richard Poe cuts through the blizzard of anti-gun propaganda and uncovers the truth about guns, crime, and freedom. He details the seven most common arguments used by gun prohibitionists, debunking each one with a wealth of statistical and legal data gleaned from top experts in the field of guns and gun rights. You will discover that, contrary to myth, the availability of guns leads to less crime, not more; that guns do not pose a special threat to our children; and that the Second Amendment is as vital to the lives and liberty of modern Americans as it was in frontier times. You will also learn how the current drive to further regulate and even outlaw firearms is a point-blank assault not only on truth but on freedom as well.

Provocative, accessible, and persuasive, The Seven Myths of Gun Control is a thoughtful and invaluable contribution to the national debate aboutguns.

Editorial Reviews

Booknews
Journalist Poe contends that gun control laws are ineffective in preventing violence. Seven common assumptions about guns are argued against in individual chapters. Some of those "myths" are that guns increase violent crime, that they pose a special threat to children, and that they should be licensed like cars. In the epilogue, the author further posits that gun control is part of an anti-male agenda which is moving American society away from its warrior roots. Annotation c. Everyone who feels American freedom is important should read this book!!

This book is excellent and should be read by everyone - gun advocates, gun-control advocates, and women. It will open your eyes and enlighten you. This book not only goes into how gun-control will take away our freedom, make us weaker and more vulnerable, but also how society and legislation are making decisions by endorsing gun-control that will endanger our future as free Americans. It is clear our government and law enforcement can't protect us - if they could, we wouldn't have all the successful violence we currently experience daily. If we give up 2nd amendment rights, we endanger our very lives and those we love, as well as the lives of all except our 'enemies'. Being unarmed does not make us safe - it makes us weak, vulnerable and easy targets. This book also addresses deeper issues in our society and will get you to look at a much bigger picture than just the gun aspect of our society. This is definitely a recommended read for all. If you have any doubts about gun-control, this will help enlighten you and make you look deeper than just the one-sided propaganda that is working to become prevalent in our country. Ignorance in this arena isn't bliss, it's dangerous and will threaten the very core of our nation.

You will not be able to put it down!

I found this book to be one of those rare books that you just can't seem put down. It is very informative and I found the part where the auther writes about the Switzerland government making it mandatory that every man has to spend time in the army, and has to keep his own assault rifle in the home and thus the crime rate is almost non-existent to be very interesting.

    Outstanding.

This book is a real eye-opener. I knew our fundamental rights were under fire, but this book helped me understand just how much of a pitfall we are actually in. It is very detailed and factual. I recommend everybody should read this book.
