Iarla O'Lionaird is nothing short of one of Ireland's brightest and most precious jewels. His voice is as pristine as it is soothing and should not be overlooked among the onslaught of other traditional Irish singers. "Seven Steps to Mercy" is an intimate look into the Irish way of life; simple, heartbreaking at times, but unique and mysterious. The highlight of this album is surely Loch Lein; you feel as if he is singing directly to you. If you are truly interested in immersing yourself into real Irish "sean nos" music, buy this album. Like a warm blanket, it feels like home.
