They're supernatural—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world. Kylie's never felt normal, but surely she doesn't belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason...if she can only figure out why, and what her burgeoning powers mean.

I read these books on Nook...and I really liked them. All of them. They were interesting. At first I didn't think I'd like them because Kylie (the main character) is kind of whinny and not very likable at first. But it/she actually got a lot better after the first couple chapters. The plot is pretty good. I've read them all and liked them all. I would really recommend them!

A Fantastic Book Contemporary, Paranormal, Young Adult Fallen, Texas Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party with the wrong people and that one night changes her life forever. Now her mother has sent her to Shadow Falls, a camp for troubled teens. Kylie quickly realizes that this is one camp where the kids are far from ordinary. They are supernatural and they are trying to harness their power, control their magic and still be able to function in the normal world. Kylie may have never felt normal but she doesn’t belong with paranormal freaks either. Or maybe she does. They insist that Kylie is one of them. She was brought there for a reason and now she has to figure out what that is. Kylie doesn’t think life can get any more complicated until Derek and Lucas enter her life. Derek is half-fae and wants to be her boyfriend. Lucas is a hot werewolf that Kylie shares a secret past with. Derek and Lucas both have a strong hold on her heart and yet they couldn’t be more different. Kylie struggles to figure out her new abilities and at the same time figure out her emotions. Now she is finding out about the dark side of the supernatural world. There is an evil enemy in the shadows that is threatening everything that means anything to Kylie and it is also bringing her closer to her destiny. This is actually the first two books in the series in one book. It also proves just how addictive this series is going to prove to be. Once the reader enters this world they will find themselves extremely reluctant to leave it. The characters and story arc proves to be unique and very hard to put down once the reader starts. Watching Kylie discover herself and her abilities proves to be interesting as she goes through the obstacles that help her grow and learn. If the rest of the books in the series live up to the first two this is going to put on a lot of keeper shelves to be taken down again and again for many re-reads. This is a series that pulls you in and doesn’t let you leave even after the very last page.

I wasn't able to finish reading the book but from what I have read so far it was really good. each end of the chapter made me wanted to read more and continue on with the story. unfornately I had to return the book to the library but I planned on going back and borrowed or better yet buy it.

I'm gonna be objective and honest here. The book wasn't awful, it had good an bad qualities. This author clearly has a lot of potential, the action and suspense is well written and interesting. However, there is very little action or suspense in the story. Much of it is filler drama. Some of it is entertaining, but it gets old fast. Next, the story. The story was intriguing, but a bit stereotypical. It mimics a lot of other stories, and Kylie has few to no likeable traits. A huge part of the story is driven by a cliffhanger that is going to drag into the third book, which is a little long. Some of the other characters, Miranda, Della, and Burnett, are dynamic and well-rounded. Overall, it's not a bad story, but it's been done before. Now, onto the most standout quality of the book. I don't know if its just this 2-in1 combo that has this, or if the original has it too, but this is a seriously distracting issue. The editor left more than a few MISTAKES IN THE FINAL TEXT. Errors include typos, wrong versions of the intended words, sentence discontinuity, punctuation problems, and more. It brings the book down an entire star. If you're a girl, you might be able to enjoy this book for some of its characters and the drama. If you're a male reader looking for an interesting, action-filled story, then this book is not for you.
