Overview

Kori Anderson is just a regular girl living in a small town, until she and a friend discover shadows are following them. These aren't ordinary shadows - they kill and assimilate part of their victims into themselves. In a town filled with rumors, cheaters, drug dealers, and alien-abduction survivors, it is difficult to know what is real and what is not, who did what, to who--when--and how. It's enough to lock Kori up in her house at night. But when she wakes in the morning, more people are dead. She turns to her uncle, Garrett, the founder of an alien-abductees group, but even he turns her away, and rightly so - she has no shadow, which can only mean one thing: her shadow has already killed.Kori suspects this all came about when she and a friend explored a cave by the quarry, filled with gases that made them sick. When Kori learns that her rival, Stacey Holmes, also without a shadow, had visited the same cave, she pressures her and her lover, Officer Bremmer, to the cave where they battle to get their shadows back. Unexpected company arrives to help, but not everyone will make it out alive. And not everyone knows their own shadows.
