This is a sweet story set back in the good old days of the Wild Wild West. Darcy is a feisty young woman who throws her engagement ring back in Will's face all over a misunderstanding. She decides to pay him back by running against him for sheriff. Will is also a strong willed man who has no problem showing Darcy the error of her ways. The story is well done with additional characters that also evolve and add to the story. My favorite was Darcy's grandmother who reveals she isn't a stranger to a spanking. If you like gentle, domestic discipline stories, I would definitely recommend this one.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I have loved all of the Joannie Kay books that I have read and this one is no different! I always like a story with an old west setting! Back in the times when a man would "lay down the law!" This story really had it all; the great, likeable characters, excellent storyline and plot; many interesting side stories; and, of course, a lot of well-deserved spankings to go around! It doesn't just end like some books, the story continues until everything is tied up at it's natural end. But that doesn't mean there couldn't be some sequel to follow...Was this review helpful? THE SHERIFF WEARS PANTS by Joannie Kay
This story covers several different couples and town relationships. Main characters are Sheriff Will Davies and Darshana "Darcy" who were engaged by a misunderstanding broke the engagement and Darcy decided to run against Will for the position of Sheriff and wins when wives threaten their husbands to vote for her. As in many things in life, this isn't a good choice. Overall I really liked the story but there are a few typos and a few phrases that don't fit 1871 time period. Most people do not call someone "daughter", "husband", etc. when talking to them. Lots of spanking goes on in this town! This story is longer than most.

Another wonderful western by Joannie Kaye! Darcy and Will are engaged to be married. Unfortunately, Darcy has a temper and believes that she saw Will kissing her rival, Priscilla. So, not thinking she puts her name on the ballot for the election of sheriff. Will is expecting to be re-elected, but that doesn’t happen because all the women in the town rally around her and insist that their husbands vote for her. I really enjoyed the relationship between Will and Darcy. He is definitely in charge, but Darcy has a strong personality and stands up to him.
There are two side stories in this as well. First, there is Louisa who is a nurse taking care of Darcy’s grandmother. She has escaped from a bad marriage and is hiding there. The other side story is Priscilla. She has always felt overlooked when Darcy is around. But, she finds her own love as well.
I highly recommend this story. I love Joannie Kaye’s stories. She has such strong women and her men are ones that any woman would love to have!

Joannie Kay knows how to write a western romance and this is a perfect example. There are quite a few characters in this story and they interact wonderfully. Great plot with some length are two of my ravorite things along with strong characters and it will, and did, keep me entertained and turning the pages. I received this book from Blushing Books Publishing as an Advanced Reader Copy. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
