All Music Guide - Staff
Celtic Thunder's The Show, the audio companion for the popular PBS television special, showcases the five Irish vocalists in their ideal setting, a stage in Dublin. Celtic Thunder thrives on the contrast of its various voices (four tenors and a baritone) creating a surreal musical landscape. Paul Byrum's assured operatic tones on "Remember Me (Recuerdeme)" crest against the doleful pop of Ryan Kelly's "Desperado" and the nascent rumble of Darien McGinty on "Come by the Hills." The concert is tied together by the steady hand of songwriter/pianist Phil Coulter, who also produced the show.

Celtic Thunder is so amazing. I fell in love with all the songs the first time I heard them. Especially "Puppy Love", sung by Damian McGinty- a 15 year old young man with a powerful voice. As soon as I heard it he caught my heart. -sigh- If you haven't heard it you're missing out on something big.

each man in this group sings songs that pertain to him and many men in that particular stage of life, such as,Damian,14,sings of "puppy love". George,39, sings of the loss of his father and his own love for his son.keith,20,sings of first love and young men and war and going out into the larger world. paul,28, is the romantic, singing of his worshipful desire for his woman.finally Ryan is the scoundrel, telling us how he can't help himself in his persuit of women.I am wearing this cd out and loving it.

So rarely do we get to hear such talent- thank GOD for PBS. The diversity and talent of these 5 men is just so incredible. The arrangements are beautiful and can be enjoyed by anyone, old or young. It's been a really long time since I have wanted to run out and get a CD upon release.

The strength of the voices makes you want to listen over and over. Each member has has a strong mellow voice and the sound they make together is wonderful. I am impressed with this group and would like to hear more from them. I loved the title Remember me, wonder tenor voice of Paul and the sweet strong voice of Damian in the bonus track of Puppy Loe. Sigh!

I am going to be honest there are some songs I just don't care for on the CD. However they aren't bad songs its just not my personal style. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to hear Irish voices sing. It is beautifully put together each singer bringing a unique sound that when put together is wonderful. Be warned though that the singer who sings puppy love on this CD, his voice drops in the following CD's and is completely different. Listen to the songs on YouTube or some other music website first. Other than that The Island, Heartland, The Old Man, mountains of mourn, and Ireland's Call are my favorites off the CD.

Celtic Thunder is a wonderful collaboration of musical perfection! Great entertainment for the entire family. Thanks to Mr. Coulter &amp amp amp Ms. Browne for bringing such beautiful talent together and for PBS for introducing it to America!

These 5 guys- ranging in age from 15 to 40- are causing quite a rebirth in the interest of all things Irish- music and the guys! Sharon Browne and Phil Coulter have blended 5 unique voices without compromising their individuality. Heard first in the US via PBS- this CD is enough to whet your appetite and leaves you anticipating the second part of their concert CD- due out in Sept of this year. Treat yourself to a bit of Ireland "Ryan Kelly,Damian McGinty, Paul Byrom, and Keith Harkin" and a wee bit of the Scots "George Donaldson"- you will NOT reget it!

Celtic Thunder is the most incredible CD I've ever heard. The five voices are so distinct on their own, yet they blend with such harmony. "Steal Away" took my breath away. Thanks to these talented gentlemen my Irish has improved! When I heard "Brothers In Arms" sung by Ryan Kelly I cried. It brought back so many memories of being in Belfast. I listen to the cd every day and I can see each performance as clear as a bell just by hearing the joy, heartache, melancholy and to echo what Ryan said the "evilness" in the songs. Each soloist has his own stage persona and this comes through so clearly in the words. I also have the dvd and it's getting thoroughly worn out! These guys are amazing YOUNG men. That includes you, too George! I am so glad they have shared their many vocal talents and charming, sweet personalities, and did I mention incredibly HOT looks and stage presence!? with the rest of the world.

The music of the five members of Celtic Thunder is excellent. The music was recorded before their 50+ city tour of the United States in 2008. By the end of the tour they were even more comfortable with the music. When the music was recorded the singers ranged in age from 14 (Damian) to over 40 (George). When the tour ended they were about two years older and Damian's voice had lowered. His voice is evident on the 2009 spring tour of Canada. Phil Coulter, the musical director, arranger, and composer of a lot of the music matched the music to the singers voices and ages. I'm looking forward to a release of 2009 show which features some different songs.

Currently on the PBS channels in concert form, the gentlemen are real "hotties" and have a cute personality to match. The music will give you chills from the harmony and the words.
