Overview

In the rural Northern Ireland of the 1960s, sixteen-year-old Moira Mullins is newly released from her second stay in a mental institution. Her problem is that she can't seem to escape the notice of the other-worldly inhabitants of the wild lands bordering her family's farm. Creatures nobody else can see or hear.

When one of these beings, a fairy princess called the Maid of Ulster, offers to foretell the future, Moira jumps at the chance. But the Maid has ulterior motives that could have tragic results for Moira, who learns the future is sometimes better unknown.

A dark modern-day fairytale, this 14,000 word novelette (easily read in a couple of hours) is a prequel to Ms. McGary's debut release The Wild Sight.

Once again, Loucinda McGary whisks us off to the mists of Ireland and creates a mood that lingers long after the story ends. Brew yourself a cup of tea, curl up by the fire, and enjoy!

"The Sidhe Princess" by Loucinda McGary is an entertaining short story that's also a prequel to her fabulous novel THE WILD SIGHT. No one writes about Ireland's country and people better than McGary.

The story reveals the background of Moira, who's gifted with magical powers which have made her life miserable. She doesn't want to pass her "gifts" along to her daughter. An encounter with the chilling "Maid" makes her think she and her progeny can avoid fate.

I was hooked by the Sidhe Princess from the first page. The heroine, Moira, was engaging and multi-layered. The villain was suitably wicked. And the author's artistry with description made the setting so vivid, it was almost another character in the story. I hope there are more books in the series because I can't wait for more.
