They're back!

Your favorite members of The Bronxville Book Club--Kathryn, Lizbet, Giselle, Chelsea, Francesca, Carole, Sarah and Madison--are welcoming the Braithwaite family to the charming village of Bronxville! And what better way for Morgan, Brooke, and the three Braithwaite children to get to know their new neighbors than by participating in the highly successful Memorial Day activities at the Bronxville School. The jewel in the crown of the holiday weekend is, of course, the eagerly anticipated Silent Auction.

This year, Lizbet Wellington Smith has organized a Silent Auction that will surpass all others and raise record-breaking funds for The Bronxville School. With Lizbet's able assistance, Morgan Braithwaite has entered his family's names on several of the red-white-and-blue ribboned bidding sheets for such items as...a condo in Vail...a Spa Cruise...Skybox tickets...Gourmet dinners...Breakfast at Tiffany's...and a Holiday House tour of spectacular homes.

Join Morgan at 2 p.m. on Memorial Day when the winners of the Silent Auction items are announced. The Braithwaites are in for quite a year as they get to know the residents of the affluent village that is endlessly copied but never matched...and the residents themselves are in for Silent Auction surprises no one ever would have expected...

Hobson's Silent Auction adds new family to village

Pamela Hackett Hobson has quickly followed her first novel, The Bronxville Book Club, with another intimate tale of life in Bronxville, The Silent Auction. Hobson's sense of humor and gracious style reveal even more about the unique, affluent Westchester village and its customs and lifestyles by introducing a new family to the community in her second book. A Sensational Sequel!

Your favorite ladies return in a wonderful tale about the Braithwaites, newcomers to Bronxville, and how they get close to their neighbors via prizes they win in the school's Memorial Day Silent Auction. Wonderful and suprising twists to the story will keep you grinning and shaking your head throughout...and waiting for the next book to learn what will happen next to Lizbet, Giselle, Kathryn and their friends.

    Fantastic

Well done! May 17, 2004 I had read the first book by this author and loved the characters in that book-The Bronxville Book Club.' The Silent Auction' takes us back into the lives of some of those characters and introduces new ones to us. I was captivated by 'The Silent Auction.' The premise of the story is truly wonderful, very cleverly done, and it carries us through the whole way. I was actually sorry when the book ended because it was such enjoyable reading. Though I'm not from the same background, I felt like I knew the characters or people like them, and I wanted to spend more time with them. The ending of the book was unexpected and made me cheer inside. Fantastic summer, winter, spring or fall reading for everyone!

    The Silent Auction

If you liked The Bronxville Book Club, you will love The Silent Auction. The (fictional) enactment and playing-out of the events in Pamela Hobson's second novel reflect a real 'happening' that occurs every Memorial Day in Bronxville, New York, an exquisitely crafted fair and fund-raising initiative for the Bronxville School, in which every family with school age children becomes involved. Ms. Hobson's depiction of the event, and the participation that follows it, necessarily requires the introduction of many more intriguing characters. The original heroines of the Bronxville Book Club are still in evidence, but the stage is more crowded this time, with children, neighbors and friends. Their inclusion is a great enhancement to the story. How they relate to each other becomes the heart of the narrative, as they come forward to claim and make use of the wonderful offerings they have won. Starting in June, the story takes us through the year, from the realization of one prize event after another, to a final, over-the-top December Christmas party. My favorite section of the book is the Richman's hilarious Christmas letter. You will have to read the entire book through to the end to reach this part, but once you begin reading, you won't want to stop. If you liked The Bronxville Book Club, you will love The Silent Auction.
