This book reminded me of changes that have taken place in our country, and our government. These changes have allowed our country to move one step further away from our God. This book is thought provoking and informative as it shows how we have moved from the land that was based on the Bible to the land of today. For me, the information about the government laws and policies, was enlightening! I especially liked the motivation it gives for ways to make our future better than our past. Was this review helpful? To say this book is a must read would be a understatement. Every Christian, and non-Christian needs to read this. It brings out to light the moral decay of this country and puts the responsibility square on the shoulders of those responsable. It is well thought out, well versed, well written, and is guarinteed to keep your attention.
Pastor Mike Slusher
This book answers much of the problem behind American Christianity's silence and hypocrisy: fear. The fear of being unpopular, of being targeted, of being brought to court, and of being taxed. Most churches are silent on political issues in the pulpit for fear of IRS action against them. They fear not only being targeted in the public eye but financially, and so they quietly huddle in a corner away from the fray. Many of those who do speak up turn out to be hypocrites or worse.
Robert Brock says that we have had enough of this. The American Church, he says, used to be a force to be reckoned with in the political arena. It did not get into politics unnecessarily-- but when issues of morality came into play it spoke up with a loud and unified voice. Mr. Brock wants to return Christians to that state: one of being fully devoted to not only living out God's morality in their personal lives but preaching it to all the world and protecting those sacred things that God holds dear: marriage, family, children.
The issues of abortion and homosexuality are two that have been ignored or surrendered to by the American Church. Robert Brock believes that we must stand with God when He says that life is sacred and should be preserved, that marriage is made for a man and a woman for life, that homosexuality is not what is intended for human sexuality and is indeed a sinful lifestyle, and that Christians are to stand for those truths even when the pressure is on.
This book is a great and thought-provoking read. You will not look at the issue of the churches' silence the same way. Mr. Brock traces some of the largest roots of our problems to a simple tax law passed in 1954-- where much of it began and has continued to this day.
Buy it, read it, pass it on. Most importantly, live the life of Jesus; not in a judgmental fashion, but living the life God intends and announcing in love the morals of God.

The Silent Church is an eye opener, that portrays exactly what has, and still is happening in our government and our society. It is time that people become educated on what is really going on in our society and our government. This book tells it like it is and really opened my eyes as to what our nation is becoming. It also told me what I could do to begin to make a change in my way of thinking. It should become a must read for all Christians who are interested in the role of the church and how they have failed our nation during these past 60+ years. Mr. Brock has hit the nail on the head in his account of what is happening in our great nation. Review by Maggie LefeversWas this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I found this book to be a total eye opener. It contains information that every Christian should know about what has really occurred within our government and our society over the past 50 years to silence the voice of the church. As long as this country has existed it is been guided and held in check by the morality and consistency of the Christian population. This book documents how the voices of the Christians in this country have been systematically eliminated from the political, social and media realms. This book offers factual historical information that is completely free of any historical revisionism. You will be presented with cold hard facts.
Would anyone say that this country today is in a better position in any area, morally, politically, financially, economically and socially then what it was 50 years ago? This books chronicles the real root of why we are now where we are today in this country. The moral compose, the Christian voice, has been removed.
This is a must read for all Christians.

The Silent Church clearly explains why the Church in America has beoome impotent in the affairs of government and a virtual non-entitity in the wake of the social change that is destroying our society. Mr. Brock has done a wonderful job of making the history of the Church's disappearance from public life make sense and is a call to action for all Christians. I highly reccomend it!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This book is one of the best I have seen that will give the reader a historical perspective as to what has transpired during the past half century, leading to the moral decay of our society's values. The church has abdicated their authority to be the watchdog of Christian values in our nation by permitting non Christian politicians to be elected to office that have enacted laws and legislation that go against Biblical teachings. These laws have silenced our churches and pastors who have not stood up for Biblical teachings as our forefathers did for so many generations, and protected Godly values. This book gives an accurate account of what has happened in our society for the past 60 years. It also tells the reader what can be done to reclaim our nation and bring God back into our society. I would strongly recommend it to anyone that feels that we need to bring God back into our schools, our government and our society as this book will get you excited about what you can do to help turn the tide and bring our country back to God.Was this review helpful?
