Overview

In the United States Marine Corps, the most dangerous job in combat is that of the sniper. With no backup and little communication with the outside world, these men disappeared for weeks on end in the wilderness with nothing but intellect and iron will to protect them—as they would watch, wait, and finally strike.

But of all of the snipers who ever hunted human prey, one man stands above and beyond as one of the most legendary fighting men ever to pull a trigger…

That man was Carlos Hathcock.

In Marine Sniper, the true-life missions of United States Marine Corps sniper Carlos Hathcock were revealed in explosive detail. Now, the incredible story of a remarkable Marine continues—with harrowing, never-before-published accounts of courage and perseverance. These are the powerful stories of a man who rose to greatness not for personal gain or glory, but for duty and honor. A rare inside look at the U.S. Marine’s most challenging missions—and the one man who made military history.

I would like to recommend this book to readers that are interested in what went on during the Vietnam War. This book tells of the life that Carlos Hathcock as a United States Marine Corps member and the training he completed to become a Marine Sniper during the Vietnam War. Henderson tells how Hathcock helped set up and write the doctrine of the Marine Sniper Schools that are now training corpsmen as snipers. Henderson uses the dream state of Hathcock to tell stories of incidents that took place during Hathcock's tours of duty in Vietman. The information for this book comes from indepth interviews with Mr. Hathcock and many individuals that served in the Marines with Hathcock. This book has made me realize that Marines do have a heart and are not the 'Big, Bad, Tough Guys' that people are made to think they are. They take their job very seriously and with honor and integerity with no gain or glory. Take the time to read this book, you might just learn something new.

since i finished "Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills" a while back, i couldn't wait to read this. i was literally absorbed into the book. i could not put it down. i read it in 2 days, simply because i couldn't stop after having read how a firefight began, i thus needed to know how it ended as well. this book is a must read for the fans of "Marine Sniper" that came before. i recommend this book for anyone that is interested in the life of Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Norman Hathcock II. the end of the book is deeply touching. the funniest part in the book is that on the chapter of the "Mustard King." absolutely hilarious!

Wow, um, this is very likely the best book I have ever read. It contains great detail and creates outstanding visuales of what it must have been like in Vietnam. I really don't like to read, but this book is the exception to that. I would strongly recommend this true biography of one of the greatest men who ever lived: Carlos Hathcock, Gunnery Sergeant, USMC.

If you enjoyed Marine Sniper, you will love this book. It doesn't retell stories previously told, but elaborates on them. There is also a section at the end about Hathcock's life after the publication of Marine Sniper that is excellent. This book was a very fast read that gave great insight to a true war hero.

For those of us who had the honor of serving with Carlos, Bill Henderson captured the essence of this warrior. There may be many like Carlos, but never another 'White Feather.' Marine Sniper and Silent Warrior tells of a Marine doing his duty for his country and Corps.

The first book seemed to cover most of the story and this one rehashed much of the same information.
