Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Although he was an ordained Presbyterian pastor, Fred Rogers's most enduring ministry undoubtedly happened in the half hour each day when he spoke gently and candidly to preschoolers via public television. His show, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, was an iconic fixture of American childhood until his death in 2003. For the first time, a full-length book undertakes his Christian journey. The Simple Faith of Mister Rogers: Spiritual Insights from the World's Most Beloved Neighbor explores topics like prayer, the Holy Spirit, forgiveness, honesty, and yes, neighborliness. Author Amy Hollingsworth, a mother with a graduate degree in psychology, spent eight years working in the Christian television industry and first met Rogers when she interviewed him in 1994. What followed was a genuine friendship and correspondence that form the nucleus of this loving tribute. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

He wasn't 'their neighbor' he was OUR neighbor

Some people expound the eternal. Some live it. The insight that the author has of Mr. Rogers is wonderful, she shows how Mr. Rogers lived it. Reading of the time Mr. Rogers stood before that senate committee and the resultant cheers that came up from the audience at the time that it originally happened, and then again at his memorial service as it was replayed on tape, later, almost thirty years to the day that it happened, was just one of the many times that it brought tears to my eyes. Find out who his heroes were. Read the book. Don't be suprised to find that his heroes were children... all of us.

    A must read!!

Many thanks to Mrs. Hollingsworth for such a touching tribute to our favorite neighbor. This is, by far, one of my favorite books! Continually inspiring, it serves as a reminder of what is good in this life and the type of people we should aspire to be. PLEASE read it! As always, Mr. Rogers never disappoints!
