This book shows promise of being a good story, but so many elements are missing. Too many characters introduced way too fast. The constant errors drove me to distraction causing me to have to interpret what the intent was. Edit, please!!

I was really enjoying this book! I couldnt put it down! I actually got up at 3a.m to read! And then... the darn author gets close to the end and forgot what he wrote I guess!!?? I mean, what freakn happened? So much was unanswered! I feel that NO justice was served and then, one page were in 1940 something and then... BAM! Its 1978!!! Then its over! Whatever happened with Doyle? You should be ashamed author person for leading me on, teasing me, then leaving me unsatisfied and wanting more! If you are a person that likes to guess your own endings in a story then here ya go! Me? Well... I DON'T !

So sad and yet very informative. Wish more had been said about Doyles wife and life.

It was ok, the ending made no sense which ticked me off after reading thru it and expecting some sort of closure to the story. Instead it just ends.

This book leaves one with an ache in the heart for the people who were so sorely mistreated in our recent past. It was riveting and kept me eager to see where it all would end.

Sad but such a realistic telling of how racial the times were.

This story pulled me in from the first page.....not real happy about the ending but then again everything doesn't always work out pleasantly......

So sad, but an incredibly engaging storyline. Highly recommend, despite the typos.

I loved the story line. There were so many errors, it was hard to take the book seriously. (Their instead of They're, omitted words) This would have been a 5 star for me if not for the constant errors.

This book was 554 pages long. The plot was wonderful. I really enjoy reading about events from this era. I learn so much about the times my grew up in and the prejudices between the races. It was not the safe and innocent times we were led to believe it was. On many levels, as this novel suggests, violence was a prominent factor of everyday life and these horrendous acts went unreported and /or unreported. There were so many missing, added, mispelled, misused, wrong tense and words with the same pronuncation, but different meanings used interchangably, I was driven to distraction. This, plus the typos and horrible punctuation took a lot away from this novel. I almost did not finish reading this book because of the errata which would have been a shame. The ending featured too big a jump in time and left many unanswered questions as well as uncompleted subplots. I had to laugh when I read a review posted by someone else, who stated all the editing mistakes should not matter to anyone. That reviewer made every mistake which could be made in their short review. No wonder this person feels this way, they most likely did not notice the author's mistakes, because they did not know mistakes were made. The conclusion of this book, although adequate, left many unsolved subplots and questions. It also made too big a jump forward in time. I have an issue with one of the ending events as well, about flowers being left on a grave. Why did this occur? There is some cursing, as well as rape, murder, prejudices, death of children by fire and corrupt people in places of power in this book. It is very violent, therefore I recommend it for adult readers. Both men and women, who enjoy books set in the 1940s, would like this thought provoking novel. AD

The grammer was like a four year old! I have to admit it was pretty good but author of this book, here is advice. GO TO COLLEGE! Learn how to write a book because this totally turned my thought of just anyone can write a book. Pshh! Bad.....

This book had my attention from the beginning that I didn't want to put it down. Peopl need to stop complaining about the grammar mistkes, as long asit still makes sense what should it matter anyways. And don't see what the problem was about the ending, could it have been better? Yes. But it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

Loved the story but the errors in the writing made it hard to read. For a low fee, I would love to profread your books and correct the errors. I would even do it for free just to read the books.

This book was good. Really sad, but easy to get into the characters lives. I wish it wasn't so full of foul language.
