What a wonderful romance. I thoroughly enjoyed all the books in The Single Daddy Series - hopefully Ms. Fasano will take the hint and get her finger out and write some more. :-) Reece has been sworn off women for a while. His reluctance to trust has had a damning influence on his young son. But, when PI Maggie Dunlap calls in to Reece's Insurance office to complain that her insurance claim has been rejected, feelings he never thought he'd feel again suddenly resurface. An excellent romance that I would highly recommend over and over again.

This review was originally posted on Big Al's Books and Pals review blog on December 19, 2012 When divorced Reece Newton, a senior claims adjuster for an insurance company, is asked to reevaluate a claim by Maggie Dunlap, he gets more than he bargained for. When he learns she is being terrorized by an unknown assailant, he offers her a place to stay while his eight-year-old son Jeff is off at summer camp. They believe they have two weeks to solve the mystery. I was worried I would not like Reece as well as I liked the other dads in this series. Reece suffered a bad marriage, it soured his opinion of all women, and he never failed to express these opinions to his friends. Not surprisingly, his eight-year-old son mirrors his father in this regard and his attitude gets him sent home from summer camp after the first week. With Maggie now living in the extra room, Reece is forced to face his son’s attitude problem head on. I don’t think Maggie or Reece made it clear to the author that neither of them is looking for a relationship, because the attraction between these two is hot. Maggie is a strong, intelligent, and independent woman with a career as a Private Investigator that has been temporarily put on hold. She agrees to try to help Jeff see women in a more positive light while babysitting him this week he was supposed to be away at camp as repayment for giving her a safe place to live. She also informs Reece that Jeff has more than likely learned this behavior from him. The conversations that ensue are realistic and enlightening, as Jeff, Reece, and Maggie all start to see the light. It is a hard road to unlearn bad habits and attitudes and learn to trust, depend on, and love again. This is an intelligent unique story that never lags. I LOVE the journeys Donna Fasano takes her characters and her readers on. **Originally written for "Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy. **

The 3rd and final installment in the Single Daddy Club focuses on Reece’s story. The most jaded and wounded of the three men, Reece’s suspicious nature is a good fit for his work, but has caused problems with his son’s behavior.   When his marriage dissolved and his wife moved to Richmond to pursue her career, his attitude toward relationships was soured and he was not afraid of sharing his opinions.  Constantly the butt of gentle and not so gentle teasing by the other members of the club, Reece starts the story as a man that is deeply wounded and suspicious of women.  Of the three stories, this was the most intensively character driven: yes there is danger, attraction and even romance, but the real enjoyment in this story comes from the character’s interactions and their slow realizations that will dissolve their long-held prejudices.  Reece’s son Jeff is much more a primary character in this story: as his conversations, remarks and questions all serve to bring new perspectives to them all, and allow for growth.  While the other Daddys in the stories are very obviously in love with their kids, neither had built the sort of “us against the world” togetherness of Reece and Jeff, and seeing their growth in opening up to accept Maggie, and even make efforts to eliminate the prejudicial feelings they have about women was sweet and well defined.   This volume managed to mix parenting and relationships, attraction, danger and romance to allow the characters to grow, shed old prejudices and move forward for their own happy ever after. Fasano skillfully integrates multiple elements and creates a romance that is sweeter for the multiple resolutions and growth for all the characters.  Most certainly my favorite of the three, it has perfect pride of place as the final volume in the collection and a must read for readers who like their romance characters to come from a life they could lead themselves.  I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
