The Sixties: Make Love Not War

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Steve Leggett
As the 1960s marched on, rock music grew increasingly more concerned with political and social issues, and the Vietnam War in particular. This brief nine-song budget collection is hardly an exhaustive look at this whole phenomenon, but it does include some obvious songs, including Barry McGuire's fire-breathing "Eve of Destruction," the Rascals' joyous-sounding "People Got to Be Free," and the Youngbloods' gentle "Get Together." Also here is Arlo Guthrie's odd "Alice's Rock & Roll Restaurant," a totally unnecessary and truncated revisit to his classic song.
