I liked this book a lot. It was funny, disturbing, confusing, and suspenseful. It accurately portrayed the roles of the "New Girl" (new kid in a new town & school) and "Final Girl" (the girl that survives until the end in horror movies).
Flopsville's story covers many of the old and new cliches found in scary movies. The main monsters, or cryptids, are werewolves, vampires, zombies, and Hollywood producers. They are described in the book. Its like a light non-gory horror movie.
The heroine is the typical new girl that overcompensates in an aggressive way in order to fit in. Eventually, she unravels the mystery, and discovers who she really is deep inside.
It can get a bit violent, but no bad language or adult situations are included. So, no young kids should probably read it unless they can handle a serial killer werewolf.
