Editorial Reviews

- - TammyJo Eckhart
No other series about a world of real yet consensual slavery has ever come close to the quality of Antoniou's work.

A lot of thought on the topic of submission went into this novel, and it struck some very strong chords with folks who can find themselves in the protagonist... well worth reading!

This is my favorite book in the entire Marketplace series, because in order for me to really get mentally involved in an erotic tale, I need to know and understand the characters on a visceral level, and with the paring down of the cast of characters to just Chris Parker (who we were introduced to in the first book) and Robin, the woman Parker decides to train on his "vacation" from a more formal House.

The first half of the book is an intensely erotic story about a woman falling deeper and deeper into her own desires, from her childhood daydreams of being ravaged by pirates to her first foray into the public BDSM scene and finally being spotted by a Marketplace recruiter. She learns of this secret Underworld where human beings consent to being sold for actual money (which they are given when their contract is up) to Owners whom they have never met.

The second half of the book is about Robin's life after being sold to two gay men, which at first confuses her, as she (like most kinksters) assumed that the person who purchased her would be interested in sexual service. And yet, she learns that there is much to be done, sex included, around their palatial Californian estate. This portions contains the most erotic "non-consensual" BDSM scene I've ever read, and let's just say my copy is dog-eared to that particular passage.

    I Also Recommend:

    Hot BDSM read

I really enjoyed this book much better than The Marketplace. The interaction between Robin and the other characters is explored with more human depth and realism. One very hot and articulate exploration into the sensual world of bondage & discipline!

    Getting better...

This is the second book of the Marketplace series, and it is MUCH better than the first. Some of the characters in the first book were rather corny and unrealistic, where this book's are a little more straightforward. The situations are good, with a small, thrilling subplot toward the end, but the pacing is a little off. She should have made the book longer and put in a few more situations for us to chew on. Overall a good read but I would still recommend the Carrie series by Molly Weatherfield over this one.

    Hot BDSM writing

The Slave is my current favorite of the Marketplace series. It follows the story of Robin, who is given the chance to train with the mysterious trainer, Chris Parker. In her slave training, she also reveals a lot about her past, and how she came to the Marketplace. The books bursts with sexuality, dominance and submission, and hot, sticky-fingered reading. The added short story at the end makes this a special deal even for those Marketplace fans who owned the original versions.
