The Sleeping Serpent: A Woman's Struggle to Break an Obsessive Bond With Her Yoga Masterby Luna Saint Claire, Virginia Bowen
- LendMe LendMe™ Learn More
As thrilling as The Girl on the Train, twisted as Gone Girl, and tortured as Wuthering Heights. Whether by free will or fate, Luna's encounter with Nico provokes a storm that shatters her perceptions of identity, duty, morality, and self-worth. The storm didn't blow in from the outside. She was the storm. Its turbulence within her, forcing her to confront the darkness, uncovers her secrets and her pain. Luna Saint Claire has a loving husband and an enviable career as a Hollywood costume designer. Still, something is gnawing at her. Bored with her conventional and circumscribed existence, she feels herself becoming invisible. When she meets Nico Romero, a charismatic yoga guru, his attentions awaken her passions and desires. Dangerous, but not in a way that scares her, he makes her feel as if anything is possible. Infatuated, she becomes entangled in Nico's life as he uses his mesmerizing sexuality to manipulate everyone around him in his pursuit of women, wealth, and celebrity. Immensely erotic and psychologically captivating, The Sleeping Serpent is the compelling story of a woman's obsession with a spellbinding guru and the struggle to reclaim her life. At its heart, it is a painfully beautiful exposition of unconditional love that makes us question what we truly want. Compelling...a gripping masterful account of the seductive manipulations of a sociopath. "She realized in an instant that being around him awakened her, stirring the sediment that had long ago settled at the bottom of her well. He made her feel a part of him--of something larger, and somehow more alive."

This is 1 of those books that you have to read for yourself. If I tried to explain it I would have to do it with a spoiler and I really hate spoilers. But this is a very good story with fantastic characters and very intriguing story line plot. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book.
Thought-provoking Quite a captivating read! Ms. Saint Claire paid a lot of attention to detail, doing her research! It is interesting how she pointed out such a valid point: How there are so many manipulative narcissists!! How can they get away with it? Are women (or men, but women in this instance), so gullible? How so very sad.. Yes, this seems as if it is a long read, at time's, and it is, comparatively, but altogether, quite intense, making the story fast-paced. Very well-written. The Author was very particular to ensure that we saw the whole picture. I'd have liked a bit more story line, as far as knowing why the Nico became the person that he is, but perhaps that will be explained in a later book.
Title: A Suspenseful Seduction “The Sleeping Serpent” by Luna Saint Claire Reviewed by Jessie D. 6/21/16 8:00 p.m. The Sleeping Serpent begins in the mind of a sociopath and ends with an exploration of love and humanity. Luna Saint Claire’s novel about a manipulative yoga instructor and his womanizing ways delves into the complexities of dealing with someone who is truly incapable of love. Meet Nico, the complex villain of the novel. As a yoga instructor who has traveled the world and studied ancient arts, Nico possesses a mysterious and compelling nature that enraptures and seduces the women who encounter him. Spanning age, culture, and background, women are a commodity of which he cannot get enough, and having just opened a yoga studio in Los Angeles, Nico sees his business as the perfect hunting ground for women who will be easily seduced. Saint Claire’s novel also closely follows the story of Luna, a married, middle-aged costume designer who is struggling with losing her youth and dealing with experiences involving her enigmatic yoga instructor. Though her relationship with her husband is strong and loving, Luna can’t help but be pulled in by Nico’s charm and sensuality. Nico takes advantage of Luna’s need to feel young and beautiful, and a tumultuous relationship begins. However, Luna isn’t alone in succumbing to Nico’s allures. The yoga instructor also uses his mysterious personality to lure a number of women into his grasp like Olivia, the young waitress who aspires to be an opera singer, and what follows is a suspenseful story of sensuality, betrayal, and lust. Nico’s motives and plans are unpredictable and make for a compelling story that continually leaves the reader wondering what will come next. The Sleeping Serpent weaves an erotic tale that takes the reader into the mind of a sociopath and raises important questions about the meaningfulness of healthy relationships. With well-developed characters and a tantalizing plot, The Sleeping Serpent makes for a fun read that was both exciting and enjoyable. I give “The Sleeping Serpent” 3.5 out of 5 stars. Stay Fresh Jessie D.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. There is a saying "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is." I think this is the perfect sentence to explain everything about this book. Nico seemed like the perfect guy, he seemed like the perfect character. Until he wasn't. The great thing about this book is the author doesn't throw you in head first to all the problems. Instead its like she puts you in a pot of cool water and slowly starts to raise the temperature, until you are desperate to get away. But no matter how hard you try you can't escape because you are too buried in between the pages of the book. HAHA that is a good explanation of how the characters must feel. I am speechless and was blown away by this book. How can I explain to you how I felt about this book when I have mixed feelings? When I started this book, I loved Luna and Nico's relationship. Even when it seemed a bit intimate between the two of them. The more the story progressed, and the more I read about the other women I had like this bad feeling surrounding Nico. I felt like things wouldn't end well, as Nico got worse. I started to dislike that I liked him in the first place. I was mad at the women characters for giving into him, but I know and understand how hard it is to say no to someone you love. I feel like one of the characters in the book, torn apart into a million pieces. I don't know if I want to rate this book 4 or 5 stars. The reason I want to give it 4 stars is because, even though I understood, I kinda got upset there was so many characters. I usually stay away from the books that have this many. But I didn't factor it in until it was too late and I was already captured into the story. I want to give it five stars because I loved this book. Even if it left me emotionally drained at the end. I am going to give this book 5 stars, because of the story. It really is one that can make you think, make you realize that someone is capable of this. I think that whether we admit it or not, some people do act like Nico. They can be charming and pull you in and get you to do things for them. Then they take you for granted and throw you aside. Even if it is not as extreme as this character, I am sure if you think back you might know someone that has pulled this stunt on you. Ms. Luna Saint Claire it was a honor to read your book, Thank you for giving me the chance.
