    more from this reviewer

Every traveler should have this book!

What a great little book- it has more practical wisdom for traveling than I've seen in my life. The ideas in this book were all submitted by travelers, so they have been tried and tested. Some of the ideas are so simple you'll find yourself saying, "Why didn't I think of that?" Others are so brilliant that you can't believe someone thought of it! This is a book that you will enjoy reading, and you will want to share it with your friends. Anyone who doesn't learn a trick (or 2, or 3, or 10) from this book must not be a very good reader! The first thing I did was get rid of my shaving kit, and replace it with a Nalgene bottle. I empty it when I reach my destination, and have a bottle for carrying water. Simple, but brilliant.

    It's a Great Book. . .

It s a great book as long as you keep in mind what it ISN'T. It isn't one person's essay on how to travel. Instead, it's a collection of tips from a lot of people. Some tips will be great for you and some won't. But just a few of them could make the difference between an outstanding and a mediocre trip.

    A reviewer

After years of tearing out pages from Budget Travel's 20 Travel Tips pages, I can finally toss them. In one neat package, this book provides surprising and helpful 'ah-hah' tips to make travel more efficient. These tips are clever and interesting and have helped me save time and money on trips from San Diego to Guatemala. It's a slice of Americana and fun to get ideas of our fellow US travelers.

    A Great Pocket book read

I must admit; I love hints and suggestions by made people because you never know what little tidbit may work. This little book should be taken almost as an "after dinner mint" after an entree of a serious travel book.

I bought this book after seeing it advertised in "Budget Travel" magazine and I was curious. I enjoyed reading the submissions made by ordinary travelers. True, some tips are a little much and perhaps obvious but some are not. The book is organized fairly well with one chapter devoted to planning your trip to be followed by the next chapter of developing an itinerary, etc.

Since this book truly is a pocket book, I do put in my bag when I know I will have some down time, possibly waiting to pick up my kids or at the doctor's ofice.

My suggestion is that the next edition (this was published in 2007) include some red flags that you can use should you come upon a tip you want to refer to again.

Have to agree with the first reviewer

Really disappointing read. So many of the tips are just bizarre. And the book makes you feel like travel is this perilous undertaking rather than something fun. Not worth the money.

Mostly inane tips, overpriced for what you get

I was very disappointed by this book. Too much information on the uses of ziploc bags and not enough meaty tips on how to make your vacations actually better. I also felt that the organization was poor and hard to follow. Really not worth the money.
