It¿s October 1944,imagine you live in Hungary and you are Jewish, the Germans have taken over the country and you are sent into forced labor. This is the life of Ernó Szép, a Jewish writer and poet who survived the Holocaust in Hungary. Ernó Szép is a very talented author who (along with his entire family) was sent to a concentration camp and once there, he discovered the horrors of what the camps were really like. He also realized how cruel the Germans were. They took any Jewish person they can find, including his 10 and 12 year-old sisters. Ernó also describes the events before he was taken away, so the reader can get the sense of what life was like for Jews, back in 1944. Ernó Szép only has this book in English, but in Hungary and Germany he has many, mostly consisting of poem books and short stories. He has also won awards in Hungary for his poetry, and some in Germany for his short stories. He uses very rich vocabulary in all of his writing. This book is a must read and if you like learning about the Holocaust or Jewish history, this will make you want to read it even more! As Ernó says, ¿if you want remember, if you want forget¿
