This book is great for the beginning snake hobbiest. It focuses mostly on setup and care and there are also informative chapters on snake anatomy and herpatology societies. There is information on diseases, parasites, shedding, how to handle difficult feeding--pretty much all the basics you need to know. There is a list of the ten best snakes for a beginner and the ten worst, which I agree with. Filled with colorful pictures and easy to understand diagrams, this book is one that I highly recommend.
