Overview

Nature lovers of all ages will delight in this ornate Christmas picture book that celebrates the splendor of the natural world Lavish embossing on every page gently illuminates snow-covered hills and trees, bringing to life the frozen beauty of the woodland setting. A little black bear wakes up to find a wintry world of white all around him. He wonders where all the colors have gone, and steps out into the softly drifted snow to look for them. The cub is soon helped in his search by a whole host of animals, including a raccoon, a blue jay, a lynx, and an arctic fox who bring the brilliant colors of the forest to him, one by one. What the animals finally create together with their treasures is a magical symbol of the Christmas season and a timeless testimonial to the joy of friendship and sharing. Readers will be enchanted by the lovingly rendered woodland animal and forest scenes, as well as the poetic text printed in elegant calligraphy.

Children's Literature - Dr. Judy Rowen
Embossed, heavy stock pages contain Martin's detailed illustrations of animals in a wintry landscape. Little Bear awakens to find the world turned white, and his forest friends bring bright reminders of warmer months to hang on the snow tree. So why is the bear awake when he should be hibernating, and where did the raccoon find fresh green shoots?

This book was given to my now 11 year old, and his 4 year old brother is enjoying it tremendously. The language is beautiful and descriptive, the illustrations lovely, and the embossing makes even this 43 year old mother stroke the pages with wonder! I came online today to purchase this book for other children in my family, to be certain that THIS one is cherished and passed down through the ages. A beautiful book, in every way, and a wonderful gift.

This book was a gift for my 5 yr.old on her first Christmas, she loved the pictures. Every Holiday Season both my girls (8 & 5) pull that book out first to read! The colorful illustrations and textured pages keep any child curious as the story is read.
