Overview

"This rich memoir of a legacy of faith and music will warm your heart and make you thankful for your own spiritual heritage."
--Jerry B. Jenkins, novelist and biographer

"The music in my life began with a soft hum in the black dirt of a Texas cotton field.

It crescendoed under the influence of the gentle, mournful songs of the Choctaw Indians and the happy gospel hymns of a small church in the Oklahoma hills. Then it was tailored by a university's erudite guidance, tested by Nashville's music elite, joined by my own brood of children, and carried halfway across a continent...

I have learned more than I ever thought possible."

In The Song of Annie Moses, you'll discover how one mother, born in mountain poverty and with limited opportunity, embraced the legacy given to her and offered that gift to her children. Aspiring to be a professional vocalist and songwriter, Robin Donica Wolaver found success. But as her young family grew, she realized where her highest calling lay. Raising six children to be world-class musicians required a great expenditure of time, hard-earned money, and a wellspring of love—God's love.

Join in on this fantastic journey of family and faith. See the change worked in the life of a mother and family who reach some of the highest heights in the musical world. Discover that God has placed in all of us a calling to express what we know with beauty and wonder.

Robin Donica Wolaver holds a bachelor's of music degree in vocal performance from Oklahoma City University and is an award-winning songwriter. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband and fellow composer, Bill Wolaver. They are the parents of six children who form the basis of the Annie Moses Band.

Includes a special section on how to nurture artistic success in children.

What a treasure!  This book was so difficult to put down that I carried it everywhere with me for a few days until I had finished it!   Besides  the cleverly entertaining stories, the abundance of insight Robin provides for guiding children to become lovers of God while inspiring them to pursue difficult and challenging endeavors in a way that seems fun to them makes this a MUST READ for parents who want their children to have every opportunity to achieve all that God desires for them.  As a parent in my ninth year of home schooling, I only wish I could have read this book about 12 years ago, yet it has still been very helpful to me and a joy to read.  If you are a parent committed to raising artistic children who want to honor God with their lives, this book will bless you and provide the tools to help you avoid some common mistakes along the journey.

I do not know the book but I do know the family this book is based on. I have seen performances by the children or grandchildren of Annie Moses. What a legacy this family has and talent beyond words. I rate them as high as they can be rated and I have never Annie Moses but it brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat when I listened to the story of Annie Moses and watched and listened to the gift of that family, God Given and hard work.

The Song of Annie Moses should be required reading for all parents. It is a humerous yet serious chronicle of the history of the Wolaver family written in a style that will keep you reading till the small hours of the morning.
The message is clear. Through love and faith in God your children can have a goal of excellence in music that transends the noise that passes for music today. God Bless you, Robin

Many times we as parents have the tendency to not see the magnitude of the gifts that God has place in each of our children or maybe like me, we see them, but because they are not skills or gifts that we have or are familiar with we are not sure how to nurture and grow those talents and gifts. Robin Wolaver's book, "The Song of Annie Moses", is such a source of inspiration to us as parents to remind us that God is the composer, choreographer and author of our children's lives.....it is our job to seek Him and obey His directions in raising them. Robin does a masterful job of communicating their family's musical journey and showing how God was so intricately woven into and present in every generation and season of her family's lives. You will be blessed as you read this family's journey through four generations and see the faithfulness of God as they chose to walk in obedience to His truths. What so blessed me as a mother was Robin's transparency and the fact that she was willing to not only share their victories, but also their struggles. This book will challenge you as a parent to take the "limits" off of what you believe you and your child or children are capable of accomplishing with God's direction, guidance, and empowerment.
