The reader is fully engrossed in the story when he falls in love with Olivia, the daughter of a wealthy estate owner, and he struggles to become a man worthy enough to ask for her hand in marriage. Sired by a vampire, he anguish's over his primal need for blood, and his sexual proclivities. The story explores his addiction, its consequences, and his inherent need to survive. It is a tale of lust for blood, sexual desire, extreme heartbreak, and finally, love and the redemption of his sins.

When I first saw this book on line, I thought OMG, please not another vampire story. But I was surprised.
It is about vampires or one specific vampire, but its really about relationships between the vampire
and his women. It is a provocative and interesting story and reads like a memoir. The characters are
all very well described and the book reads quickly. I found it to be very suspenseful. A very good story.

A good read, I enjoyed it. A little long but the characters are really interesting, and you get in to them
pretty quickly. Very hot love story about vampires. I would reccommend.

Loved the story! It kept me glued to it from the beginning. Yeah, its a vampire story but really its about
addiction and relationships. I found it to be smart and sexy but it does start before the turn of the century..
I agree with the other comments. It is Gothic and dark at times, but very sensual. I loved how the writer makes
the connection from blood addiction to heroin addiction, and the common thread in the book is about
love, loyalty and redemption. Great read.

Thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It's starts out as very Gothic and then moves forward into the present.
The story is told from the point of view of the vampire, and is very descriptive. The story draws you into
his motivations and torments, as he battles and then gives into his blood and lust addictions. The book
is highly romantic and sensual but not graphic. I really liked it.

Fascinating read. Intimate portrayal of a half human vampire from the 1800's to modern day.
Author creates very real characters and realistic relationship issues. Highly recommend.
