Overview

America's favorite pop band, Roman Holiday, is done, dead, and so totally last year. For eighteen-year-old rockoholic Junie Baltimore, this is music to her ears. But when she discovers their sexy ex-lead singer hiding out on the boardwalk, her summer vacation becomes the cover story of the year.

She's willing to keep him a secret, but when a sleazy paparazzo offers her the cash she needs to save the bar her father left behind, could she sell out for the chance to save her future? Who is she kidding? That's a no-brainer...but she never planned on falling head over heels for the lead singer.

I enjoyed this so, so much, and in a category where it feels like every book is plagued with darkness, this is absolutely my new #1 rec when someone tells me they're looking for fun, lighter NA. The dialogue between the MC and LI is fantastic, and hanging out with them is just the best way to spend a few hours. Especially if you're into music-themed books, but even if you're just looking for fun, quirky characters to laugh with for a while, pick this one up ASAP.

So, I've been meaning to read this for a while and when I finally started, I literally could not put this book down. I mean, I was up late reading it and sneaking in pages at work! I loved everything, from the music and Star Wars references, to the plot, and the ending, and Boaz (oh, Boaz <3) and just ALL of it. Great book. Highly recommend to everyone, especially music fans!

The story was wonderful but I could not stand some of the music choices and found some discrepancies. Like nobodyj head bangs to Meatloaf and it is not Metallica's Iron Man, that would be Black Sabbath. But besides that the story was WONDERFUL! I am just a music snob. Kind of like the main character. ?

If I had to describe THE SOUND OF US in one word, it’d be ADORABLE. Gah. This book was so freaking cute, I don’t even know where to begin. I picked up this book because I was promised some laughs and a light-hearted, fun read, and that’s exactly what I got. Junie is a delightful protagonist with major snark and some really funny thoughts and Roman is sexy and entertaining and their romance is so swoon worthy and fun and I just loved it. A lot of NA books have some pretty heavy themes (hell, a lot of what I read in general has some pretty heavy or dark themes), so THE SOUND OF US was a wonderful breath of sweet, fresh air. Also, I’m not a huge music buff, but if you are, you’ll love this book. For real. So if you’re looking for something fun and downright cute and have an interest in music (or even if you don’t!), definitely give this one a try.

I lost interest shortly after starting. It just didnt seem to hold my interest. I love a book that I can't put down once I start it, and this just wasn't one of those books. I did follow through and finish eventually, hoping that it would get better. It was okay. Not all books are for everyone, maybe this one just wasn't for me.
