My sister and I took a car trip through the Southwest, and although we had about ten other guide books, the Rough Guide was the only one we really ended up using. I especially liked several things about it: 1) it offers opinions, and even rates different attractions, drives, etc; 2) it is set up in geographic order; this made it easy and practical to follow as we drove around the area; and 3) it had references to every attraction and town I looked up, even the tiny ones, along with ideas about lodging and restaurants (but with more informative and useable comments than AAA, for example). It even had very useful information about specific hiking trails in the national parks, allowing us to plan our hiking, to some degree, before we even got there. Was this review helpful?
