About the Author

Born in Pasadena, California, in 1965, Jamie Jensen grew up in a colorful place in a colorful time. The youngest of three girls, her sisters were her playmates. When summer came, Mom would take the girls to Venice Beach, a place full of art, music, and all cultures of people. The whole world was there, and her imagination grew.

Jamie became a skin care specialist and make-up artist. At 27 years old, she opened her own little day spa. Always wanting to travel, but life got busy. Becoming a mom for the first time at 39, travel would have to wait. At bedtime, Jamie made up stories for her little girl. Her journey led her to write The Spec of Sand, a travel book for children.
