Meet the Author

Andrew L. Dieden has played and watched sports his entire life. When drinking caused his life to hit bottom, he was faced with the inevitable challenge of getting sober. He found it much easier to incorporate Twelve Step recovery concepts into his life when he started comparing his personal challenges to those of the athletes, teams, and coaches he most respected. He is an attorney who lives in Mill Valley, California.

    Excellent book that demystifies recovery

    After reading Dieden's book I understand the process of recovery. No psycho-babble, this book deals it straight. The book uses quotes and stories from athletes to underscore key points, which makes it even a more relevant and interesting read. Highly recommend it for readers with a family member or friend going through an addiction issue. Also a great book for someone who is going through the recovery process or is about to make the decision to.

    He shoots, he scores!

    In 'The Sports Lover's Guide to Recovery,' Andrew Dieden tackles addiction recovery by relating it to the playbook by which athletes achieve greatness. It's all about hard work, discipline, and listening to your coach, and Dieden hits nothing but net with numerous insightful tales from the athletic pantheon. Having broken the spell of Dionysus to scale the Mount Olympus of sobriety himself, Dieden swings serious lumber as he discusses life's best-of-one series. Whether you're an addict, know somebody who is, or are just interested in memorable stories and quotes from great athletes, the newest addition to the Dieden oeuvre does not disappoint. As Yogi Berra notes in Dieden's book, 'I didn't really say everything I said.'
