So squirrel knight it sounds dumb right? I think so too but heres how he got the name. His father was also a knight and in fact the kings champion. He was once in a terrible battle were both sides had received great losses. He was one of the few survivors who in the end had saved the kingdom from the barbarian horde invaders from the north. They were outnumbered 5-1 but the knights were strong, unyielding and somehow they prevailed. After suffering grievous wounds and on his way back to report to the king, he fell unconscious under a large walnut tree. When he awoke hungry he had no strength left and just laid there watching the sun come rise and set. The hours past and he knew without food He would soon perish. He could barley move and had resigned himself to his fate when he found his eyes on a simple grey squirrel traveling up and down the tree. He watched the squirrel and only the squirrel with all that he had left in resolve. The Squirrel traveled up and down the tree all evening collecting many walnuts that had spread upon the ground. They were encased in these large greenish balls almost like an egg when its hard boiled. He thought on the outside of the walnut being the food for the walnut itself like a gift from the mother tree to send it children off with lunch. The squirrel would take them and hide them high in a nest in the tree tops .Many times the little squirrel would lose his grip on his tasty treasure. They were so large compared to the squirrel he lost them often and right down the base of the tree they fell hitting the knight more times than not. The knight with every hit of the greenish assault kept his link this world and not the next .Every time he had decided it was time to pass on smack he gets snogged on the head. Then he became so mad at the clumsy squirrel he finds the strength to wave a green ball at him. He then bites into the walnut the outside is bitter but he eats it all. Then he opens the walnut inside and eats it haply. He doesnt eat the outside again put keeps the peels to collect water when it rains .Soon after 2 or 3 weeks go buy and he has regained his strength surviving only on the cool rainwaters and his walnuts he then returns to report to the king . he reports on his mission and then his tail this is where I come in. NO Im not the squirrels son or even the king. my name is Peanut. A bastered and motherless boy. I dont even know how old I am but even if I did I would be considered a runt at any age. I am assigned by the king to be the squirrel knights squirrel. I mean squire. The problem is he hates me, I am not worthy of the great squirrel knight and strangely enough he hates squirrels too. His new crest of black squirrel on a red field he hates evens more it replaces his families crest a terrible griffon. He used to be known as the griffon knight but his story has so captivated the king that he has been renamed. Now he will travel the lands doing the kings quests with a pious squirrel holding out an acorn instead upon his chest, shield and cloak. Even I get some great squirrel insigne garb. The other knights make fun of him saying dont let your nuts get roasted oh fearsome squirrel. They say lots of bad things but the squirrel knight says nothing. To make matters worse I am ordered by the king to always carry walnuts and other nuts for the knight if he grows hungry and needs nourishment or strength. But whenever I hold them out to him like the squirrel on his crest holding out the acorn he scowls and walks away mumbling. I am too small to hold his boot so he can mount his horse so I have built a small step stool and I lug that around for him as well strapped to my back I carry a small knife with an acorn on the pommel. My garb is grey given to me by the king it has a small squirrel emblem on the arms and around the belt. You know being the squirrels squire may sound glamorous but try keeping up with a man on horseback. He is constantly leaving me behind and it sometimes takes me all day and night to catch up to wherever he is going on foot just to drop his ladder so he can ride out again. he has been trying to lose me for over a year and whenever I catch up I always hold out a walnut in case he is hungry (he he Im the one who should be famished and he knows it) .well he never takes them so I sometimes plant them along the roadways so over the years we will all be able to bask in the shade of the squirrels glory (this also infuriates him) he he. I never knew my father and my mother was killed in a barbarian raid without the kings knights I would surely be dead. One day if the squirrel does not have a son of his own I could be the next squirrel knight and I want this more than anything.
