The fairy takes Holly to Everdream, a city in the clouds inhabited by magical elves and fairies, who use their magic to help Santa Claus make Christmas special every year. Everdream is also home to a magical door, which is Santa's only way in and out of the North Pole.
Santa has a sister named Jellis Claus. She hates Christmas, children and her job helping the elves make toys. Jellis is envious of Santa, so she leaves the North Pole in a rage to study magic with the gnomes. She becomes a powerful elf witch and returns to Everdream with a demand: "Put me in charge of Christmas or I will forever close the magical door to the North Pole."
The elves and fairies refuse, so Jellis shuts the door, meaning there will be no more Christmas or Santa. It's up to Holly to help the elves and fairies reopen the magical door and save Christmas. Can she do it?
Robert L. Welsh lives in Charleston, South Carolina. "The two messages I incorporated into this story have been drawn from my life experiences. I was a Captain with a major airline, and 'team work' is a very important concept in the cockpit. The second message concerns 'family and relationships,' which I feel very strongly about." This is the first book of his Everdream series.

In this fairytale story, Santa Claus comes from a land called Everdream. Everdream is the home to fairies, elves and other magical creatures. Did you know Santa Claus has a sister named Jellis Claus? Well, Jellis is JEALOUS! She doesn't like children, presents, or Christmas at all. She can't stand her job helping the elves at Santa's workshop. Jellis hatches a plan to ruin Christmas but Holly, a little girl from our human world helps the elves and fairies of Everdream save Christmas!
This was a fun picture book! I really like that it tells you about this place called Everdream and Santa's sister, Jellis. That was an interesting idea about the life of Santa that I never heard before. I liked Holly (the human girl) a lot. She was pretty clever. The story reads like a fairy tale and the illustrations go along with it very nicely.

This book was a Christmas gift for our son. It is 45 pages long with many beautiful color illustrations. The story takes you on a journey via a young girl named Holly, who lets you in on her secrets about Christmas - things you wouldn't normally know. Holly is a great protagonist; she is kind, smart and independent. And she gets to meet Santa Claus plus a bevy of great little characters.
With themes such as jealousy, temper tantrums, adventure, kindness and problem solving, The Story of Everdream is exciting.
The story is a perfect combination of familiarity and originality, which reminds me of the great animated Christmas cartoons such as Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer or How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Highly recommended for ages 4 and up.

This book was a National Indie Excellence Award Finalist for 2012. It is well crafted and highly recommended.

“The Story of Everdream” is told by grandmother Holly about a trip she took to Everdream when she was little. Now that she is older, she has secrets she wants to share, and she wants to share it with each child who reads this book. When Holly was 7 years old, she and her dog, Boots, wandered out in the woods and ran across a fairy bear named Bearon Topp, who told them about a place called Everdream. Holly was so excited that she asked Bearon Topp to take them to this magical place, so he did. And wow, what a place it was! Santa Clause was there with all of his elves working to make Christmas fun for everyone. But there was someone there that didn’t like elves, or children, or anything about Christmas. Santa’s sister Jellis Clause. Jellis Clause was jealous of Santa, so she wanted to ruin Christmas for him and for all of the wonderful children. Can she do it? Will jealous Jellis stop Christmas for everyone?
This is a really cute Christmas story, and I hope to read more children’s books by Robert Welsh. This story is exciting and captures the interest of young readers because they want to find out if there will be a Christmas this year. The story is well-written and the illustrations by Kalpart are awesome. The cover is beautiful, with Holly and Boots and the vivid Christmas colors will draw young readers to the shelves to look at the book. I love the inside illustrations with Christmas colors and snow, making if feel like Christmas.
I encourage you to grab a copy of this wonderful Christmas book to add to your child’s library. You will not be disappointed.

This book is adorable for both young and old. The storyline holds your interest, offers anticipation, excitement and resolution. Plus, it's a little longer than the normal story, so it's a great bedtime story for the little ones to hear during the holidays. It offers a new twist to the normal Christmas tale, so it's unique besides.
I highly recommend it.
