Children's Literature - Lisa Kuehne
At what point should a secret be kept locked up forever? When Lawyer, Mr. Gabriel John Utterson, hears a captivating story about a strange man coming and going from his friend's house, he is determined to uncover the real reason behind their relationship. Since Utterson has represented all sorts of criminals while practicing law, he is confident Mr. Edward Hyde fits the perfect description of a scandalous villain. He becomes so intrigued to find out Hyde's true intentions, it takes over his life. Utterson fears his friend Dr. Jekyll is being blackmailed by the hideous Hyde and is in serious danger. Their strange relationship does not make sense to Utterson. After all, why would a respected doctor leave everything he owns to a potentially evil criminal upon his death or disappearance? The more he uncovers about the two men, the more his suspicion rises to uncontrollable levels. Mullarkey adds suspense to this commonly known story and keeps her readers guessing until the very end. This is an excellent read and readers look forward to reading future Mullarkey books. Reviewer: Lisa Kuehne
