But six years later, the couple reunites. Angel, who inherited loads of money from a beloved uncle, has amassed a fortune of her own as a corporate CEO. The book’s latter half switches gears by focusing on the Illuminati, from its sordid history to newly introduced characters tied to this organization of “many arms.” This further enriches a strong cast, which includes legendary killer Joaquin “Monsta” Marquez and Olivia Rothschild, the mysterious “Princess of Death.” As Garcia has a sequel in the wings, this installment builds more to a cliffhanger than any sort of climax. Suspense nevertheless rises as DJ and Angel’s circumstances turn decidedly precarious.

A gripping tale of crime and romance with an indelible cast.
