I thought the fairy was very mysterious; I wasn't really sure about her, is she good, bad, indifferent? Is she representing something, why is she so stubborn from the get-go, but I like that. I enjoyed trying to figure out more about her as I read...

I really liked that Roy was able to wish for anything he wanted (all the money or candy in the world, etc.) but kept his wishes simple. I found that humbling and refreshing...

I loved the illustrations. Kids can identify closely with them because they aren't these extravagant works of art done in a software program like Photoshop, but they were real and genuine, which I value a lot more! (as if they came straight out of a children's classroom)

I loved the simplicity of the story. It was written from a small boy's point of view, and I think any kid could understand what is going on as it happens, and have a good time with it.

The title of the story hooked me right off the bat from the front cover. Usually, the front covers and titles of children's books are nice and positive, like "The happy choo-choo train", "The castle in the Sky", etc. Reading "The Stubborn Fairy" immediately raised questions and made me really curious to know more.

I enjoyed the background colors on the pages (behind the words). Some books miss that, and I think that even takes away from the story sometimes, and can be distracting. The colors in this one created a better mood, and made this a much nicer read.
