Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Anyone with a charge card can learn to be stylish; the trick is to learn to be chic and solvent. Nina Garcia, the fashion director at Marie Claire magazine, earned her street cred critiquing the imaginative, low-cost creations of Project Runway contestants. Her book will resolve the predicament of women who moan that they have closets full of clothes but nothing to wear. The Style Strategy asks a trio of core questions: "What do I have?" "What do I need?" and "What do I want?" Mercifully, she doesn't just pose those queries, she arms fashionistas with a full battalion of beautifying ideas and attractive, relative inexpensive clothing options.

    I Also Recommend:

Nina Garcia is like every girls stylish Aunt.

I have her other 2 books and am greatly looking forward to this one. Nina Garcia writes in a clear no-nonsense way and offers advice on how to hold and create your own personal style. The look she favors blends classics with new trends to create a timeless look all your own.

There are many easy tips in her books to make anyone's wardrobe look new and fantastic. One of my favoriate tips was to have clothing altered for you. So simple and easy, but one never thinks of changing the hem on a shirt to balance the look, or to buy long sleeve tee shirts and alter them to 3/4 length to cover tops of arms better then short sleeves.

Out of all the fashion advise out there; Nina Garcia is the one to listen too.

    Keep Shopping!

This book could have been condensed down into a brochure! Much blabbering about nothing....take a pass. Her other book, The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own, is fabulous!

    OK

This book has some useful material in it, but I wouldn't buy it again. As another reviewer mentioned, it's repetitive, and it states the obvious quite a bit. The first part is better than the second part...the organization seems to "fall apart," and the information isn't as specific or helpful as I thought it would be.

    Style Guide

Nina Garcia is very knowledgeable when it comes to fashion. This book is like sharing advice with a girlfriend. She can be a little repetitive, but I understand she's just trying to get the point across. Overall I like it, and would recommend it.
