Overview

Mary Balogh’s charming and warm-hearted eBook original short story is a testament to the steadfast devotion of true love, as a young miss on the marriage mart cleverly plots to claim her one and only.

If circumstances were different, Philippa Dean would be happy to fall in love with Viscount Darleigh. He is certainly the perfect gentleman and everything her parents want: titled, handsome, respectable. His blindness only reinforces his quiet power and strength. But Philippa does not love him. Her heart is already taken and there is only one thing she can do: Thwart the matchmaking plans.

Julian Crabbe is desperate to rescue the woman he fell in love with two years ago. Then, he was a reckless cub, justly earning Philippa’s parents’ scorn. Now, he is every inch a respectable suitor and determined to prove it before it is too late. Intrude on the viscount’s house party? Gladly. Interrupt the match of the season? Happily. For nothing can stop the power of a love that will not be denied.

Don't get me wrong...I am a huge fan and love her books, but there should have been no charge for this short story. I realize that it was only $1.99, but it was only fifty pages long and the main objective was to introduce the reader to Vincent (the main character of Mary's next book). I will buy her next book regardless, but I think this story should have been free. It is disappointing when fans are taken advantage of like this.

Boring, too short to develop the characters. Pointless story. I just read it yesturday and can't even remember the main characters names.

This story can also be found for free at the end of the full-lungth ebook The Escape. It's a fun lirrle read and complements The Arrangement. Always interesting to have both sides to a story, especially when told by such a good writer.

This book is the lead in to "The Arrangement" and, for me, only enjoyable as it led me to that book. Otherwise, I would say it wasn't my cup of tea. I found the "hero" to be less appealing than the man who becomes the hero in "The Arrangement."

Mary Balogh writes beautiful stories.  She brings the regency period to life, and creates situations that are true to the time period.  The characters draw you in with their strengths and frailties and keep you engaged until the end, which always seems to come too soon
