Overview

An outlaw alien is exiled from the planet Nod where she escapes in a high-tech spaceship. She lands in another world where she encounters "The Shadows", "The Others," and a cast of characters that form a fast-moving illustrated fantasy adventure. We meet Pippin, a beautiful girl who is loved by all the forest creatures, who all unite to fight the "witch from Nod."

The sequel to this book is "Pippin and the Pirates," a book that continues "The Summer of Nod" and introduces more exciting action to please young readers. The reading vocabulary in both books is built with second and third grade words and is suitable reading for students in 5 grade and higher. Teens and adults enjoy these stories, too.
