Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Debra Lampert-Rudman
Asa and Rollo are a royal brother and sister team who hope to save their family and their country, the Star Lands, from the evil court magician,"Flood." Their world is studded with Moonstone Stars, magic ropes, explosives, great hot air balloons, magic words like "kweee-koo, koo-weee—ince" and witch princesses, leading to exciting adventures that both middle grade boys and girls will enjoy. The sea theme, including an invisible ship Northseeker, keeps the action flowing while the children search for their mother and father who may have been killed in the Castle Crag dungeon. The writing is stilted in parts while the illustrations seem a bit rushed and scratchy but, upon reflection, both of these aspects add to the "otherworldliness" in which the siblings reside. This is the fourth and final installment in Australian author Kim Wilkins's "The Sunken Kingdom" series but can be understood without having read the first three volumes.
